I'm glad he's injured. Candreva deserves another chance at a starting spot. :palm:

LOl. Didn't he use up all of his chances already? I think he (and Ausi) are using a cheat code of some kind.

I get he was converted to the wingback role and everything, but it was worrying to read that interview from a few weeks ago in which Hertha's sporting director said "Lazaro had a great season in a position he doesn't like".

Hopefully he wasn't accurate or something got lost in translation (for example, "he didn't like at first"), otherwise there's a chance Valentino - Ausilio's rumoured old target - tricked Conte in their first conversations just to sign a fundamental contract for his career.

I'm looking forward to his first trap hit in Milan (and possibly a prestigious featuring in the city). Forza Valentino

Btw no one mentioned but in our game game against the Primavera he had 2 assists and looked very good in general. I know Candreva is the best player in the world right now but we’re gonna need to rely on Lazaro sooner rather than later

Well it is primavera at the end of the day, so I would wait until he actually makes an appearance in a real match.

Candreva is 32. In a very demanding position stamina wise. He's not going to be playing every single fixture. When Lazaro gets his chance, hopefully he does well unlike a certain recently departed Brazilian.

He's playing for Austria against Latvia (2:0 at HT).

Pros: very active and committed, everywhere in the last third, often searched from his team mates

Contras: his1-vs-1-attempts weren't successful, he tries too many "flashy" stepovers for my taste, wasn't that involved anymore when he switched on the left side

Trivia: The commentator praised Candreva as a very hard competitor and the reason why Lazaro was benched in the first two games.

Candreva is praised by the german commentators at DAZN too. Guess the only thing they know about Candreva is that he has played over 50 games for italy and therefore has to be good....

Candreva is rated surprisingly high outside of Italy for his actual ability

I remember a few seasons at lazio, people in the states were even obsessed with him. I have friends who would pick Italy in FIFA so that they could utilize candreva - crazy enough. I do think he has alot of talent, just too often makes the wrong decision.

Yep, only goes to show how adequate Americans are with all things "soccer" related...

Here a rating from Austrias biggest sport website:

VALENTINO LAZARO (Inter Mailand/24/2), until 68th minute, grade: 2

For the Neo-Inter-Legionary it was the first competitive game of the season. The Styrian began on the right wing, but temporary switched with Alaba. Acted agile and imaginative, but not everything worked out. He was one of those Austrians who might have been a bit too unselfish and were looking for the last pass instead of the finish. Too bad that Alaba shot the ball over the goal after a beautiful assist from him in the 55th minute. Just before he was replaced by Gregoritsch after 68 minutes, he missed a good chance for a header.

Google translate from Laola1.at. He also got a grade 2 from my local newspaper (grade 1 is the best, grade 5 the worst in Austria).

It was not just in the states, apparently Brieda was a big fan too. When Candreva was at Lazio, I remember Barcelona tried to buy him. But Lolito rejected the offer and asked for too much. I know, it sounds unbelievable now.

Plenty of Americans who know more than the average European fan, plenty who don’t.
