Adriano needs to wait for the milan game, so it should be Veiri-Recoba ;)
I concur. This should be the second game of the season (I hope I am right) that Adriano doesn't start. We have to keep an eye on the Derby as we have not enjoyed much fortune on those contests over the last 2 seasons :( .

I still want a strong team to face Valencia and therefore the defence that is gona face Milan shoudl play here to test the flaws with a good team. Veron IMO should start and we should play VDM to help him get back on track after the Udinese game (I have not seen the udine game yet so I am just basing this on what I have read).

My prefered line up,

-------------Toldone
(Hopefully Mancio will place his confidence back on him)

--Ze Maria--Café--Matrix/Burdisso--Il Capitano
Cordoba had a great game against Brazil and when marking Adriano those two did not seem to be teamed on the same club!

VDM---Veron--CZ/Cuchu---Emre/Stan

-------------Recoba
------------------Vieri

Anywayz for the moment that is what I think but I may revise the line up as We can place Café as the left back, Take Ze Maria out and play with Matrix--Burdisso if it is the way we are gonna apporach Milan.

Talk to yous later

Albelda: Valencia need to play 'ugly'

MADRID, Oct 19 (Reuters) - Valencia may have to ditch their new-found attacking style of football in favour of an 'ugly' defensive approach if they are to beat Inter Milan in the Champions League, according to club captain David Albelda.
'We are conceding too many goals and have to learn to control the games more effectively,' Albelda told reporters before Wednesday's Champions League match against the Group G leaders.

'We have to shape up a bit and if it means playing more ugly football and defending deep then we should do it.'

The Spanish champions, who also won the UEFA Cup last season, lost their unbeaten record in the league when Sevilla came from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win at the Mestalla on Sunday.

They also surrendered a lead against Real Betis in their previous league match to end up drawing 1-1 and lost 2-1 to Werder Bremen in their last Champions League match after midfielder Vicente put them ahead in the second minute.

Albelda said the team had changed style under coach Claudio Ranieri, but it needed to make sure it did not neglect its former defensive prowess.

'We now have more possession and have improved in attack, but we need to make sure we don't lose our traditional strength in defence. In previous seasons it was impossible for a side to come back against us from a goal down.'

Inter, who completed a spectacular 3-1 victory over Udinese at the weekend, knocked Valencia out of the UEFA Cup and the Champions League at the quarter-final stages in 2002 and 2003 respectively.

But Albelda is confident that their previous defeats will help inspire his side to an improved performance this time round.

'We aren't scared of games like this,' he said. 'In fact, we enjoy them and do well in them. There is no such thing in football as revenge, but we will have a special motivation to win this game.

'It is good that we are playing at home and we know that if we win we will be up there fighting for a place in the next round.'

Sadly Valencia have managed to recover Aimar just in time for us...

But both Marchena and Ayala are out.

LUISITO!!!

Man, you should stay here with us. :( What the hell do you mean by our right midfielder being the captain btw? :wth: I guess it's just a typo. ;)

Tim, I don't know if you need to pay additional fees for TVRI (StarHub Cable Channel 31) or not. I have been using the same plan (God knows what) since the Dinossaur era and never changed it. It is not a sports channel btw. It is like the Channel 5 of Indonesia. So you go and check it out. Maybe it's avaliable in your set as well.

Hi Handoyo..

How do u get channel 31 huh?I only got Ch21-24 for sports.Need additional charges to subscribe for ch 31??
Yes, TVRI (Ch 31) is a special channel that needs additional subscription in order to be viewed on your cable box. I have no idea how much it costs, but i am pretty sure it shouldn't cost more than 10 dollars (it should be packaged with several other channels too).

Ciao,
Tim

tks alot..

Vicente hasn´t played in two games and it´s highly doubtful that he can make it for this match. And Aimar should be out too. Of course there is a possibility that they are both in, but lets hope the best.

Speculation, speculation..

I watched the first half of Valencia - Sevilla and I thought they were very poor. It could be explained by the fact that 2 of their key midfielders, Vicente and Baraja were rested. It will be tough to contain Vicente, who I think is one of the best left winger in the world, ecspecially with the poor start to the campaign for our defence. It will also be interesting to see how the battle in the central midfield end up. Cambiasso played very well against Roma and Udinese and I've been hearing reviews that he worked very well with CZ against Udinese.

Baraja and Albelda are perhaps the best central midfield pairing in the world right now. Both are hard-working and Baraja always made very runs to the box that are so difficult to mark. It would be a great test to see how good our midfielders really are.

The key to win this match is, yeah you guess it right, Adriano. Valencia will be missing 2 of their best central defenders in Ayala and Marchena. Add this to the fact that they conceeded 8 goals from 7 matches so far in La Liga, their defence will be quite fragile for this game. It will interesting on how Vieri will perform against them. He was the protagonist that got us past Valencia in 02/03 CL 1/4 final by scoring once in each leg. With his goal against Udinese, let's hope he can continue his revival.

That´s very true. They have been at least five years together. But in this season they haven´t played so much at the same time. Is it because of injuries or what, I´m not sure. But we can be almost sure they are both playing and teasing our asses on Wednesday.

Inter-Toldo: Is it all over? Tuesday 19 October, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Francesco Toldo’s Inter career could be coming to an end as he is again set to be left out for the Valencia game.

The former Italian international was dropped for the Udinese win on Sunday and Alberto Fontana is expected to keep the gloves on Wednesday.

Toldo didn’t take the decision to axe him well and a split seems on the cards – especially if he is ignored for the derby in Week 7.

Reports in the peninsula today suggest that the Nerazzurri are already planning for the post-Toldo era and there could be developments in January.

The Nerazzurri are keen on bringing back Sebastien Frey to the club, a ‘keeper they sold to Parma after capturing Toldo in 2001.

The Tardini outfit want to keep hold of the Frenchman until the end of the season but the San Siro giants could tempt them with a player plus cash deal.

Toldo’s future with Inter was already questioned over the summer when the club signed Fabian Carini.

The Uruguayan international arrived in a straight swap deal that saw Fabio Cannavaro move to Juventus.

Toldo dropped again?? Let's hope it doesnt happen. :frustrat:

I must say that if this is true it is too harsh for Toldo...

He isnt the main reason our defence looked bad he just seemed to look disinterested sometimes and maybe sitting him down will burn the fire once again. I hope he plays especially against Valencia a team that he really showed his worth against everytime we play them.

Sure Toldo isn't to blame but Fontana didn't do all that bad against Udinese either. Maybe Jimmy should be given another game and Toldo should be reintroduced during Milan's game?

I think he was red-carded. I wanted him to play 90 minutes so he'd be tired against us.

I hope so too. I think that was our management's intentions but it seems him, or his agent, took it the wrong way. I will be surprised if he is dropped against Valenica.

My line-up:

Toldo
JZ -- Cordoba -- Burdisso -- Favalli
ZM -- Veron -- Cambiasso -- Stan
Vieri -- Recoba

BTW, did anyone see Ronaldo getting two hard balls to his 'groin' against Dynamo, Man!!! That was hilarious.

I wouldn´t actually take this squad too seriously. It is pretty clear that Martins isn´t fit to play. They are probably included in the squad, so they can travel with the team and train and socialise. Not to actually play the game.

But I assume that Carini is allowed to play after all.

Jimmy is right. Mancini has already confirmed it. But it was sad to know that Recoba's case also seems to be similar, like that of Martins', coz I had thought that he would had been available as a sub.

Also good to know that Karagounis is in Mancini's plan (in the near future). How would we play Karagounis in the midfield, if Mancini is indeed planning to play with him ??

-------- Cambiasso ---------
-- Veron --------- Karagounis
--------- Stankovic ----------

???? But, I guess we will play C.Zanetti.

Handoyo,

Baraja did play against Sevilla, only to be red carded later on, as said by Hamed. ;)

My bad. I meant to say Albelda instead of Baraja. :)

Well abaut the Toldo case I woulden be mad if he is drop un the bench because he have't played particulary well for us....And it's a longtime since he have done any good thinks for us.....So I woulden be unsatisfied if we sold him in the january trasfer market. And got Frey instead....And as it looks now he really wont's to leave Parma.

Resting adriano or not?
Looking at our schedule I believe IF possible we should play him in both Valencia & Bbilan games! I guess we can then afford to rest him for the midweek game away against Lecce!
Anyhow, if I had to choose between the valencia or Bbilan game then Id rather play him in the derby. YEt, Having said that by getting all 3 points in Mestalla we will have more than a foot in the next stage. ;)

Its a tricky decision which based on Adriano's condition Mancini will have to make!
