WTF, this is just wrong

Zenit St. Petersburg Won't Sell Season Tickets To Women

Zenit St. Petersburg have created controversy by announcing that they will no longer grant season tickets to women.

The remarkable development came about after a meeting of the club's fan council, who came to the conclusion that female patrons were distracting their fellow match-goers simply by turning up at the Petrovsky Stadium.

One male supporter was quoted as saying, "I can’t jump around and swear when members of the beautiful sex are next to me."

Zenit have reluctantly confirmed this change in policy, although they seem quite eager to sweep the whole affair under the rug.

"Young women were excluded, but not all of them," spokesperson Ruslan Dryuma said in the Russian newspaper Gorod 812.

"We have made the decision that we are not discussing this subject with the press."

Such an openly sexist stance will severly tarnish the reputation of a club who are, according to their official website, actively attempting to weed out the racism and discrimination that has plagued them for so long.

LW, they were banned from fan sectors, where die-hard fans are sitting. Wild people, our curva even with mopeds flying around look like kindergarten bullies comparing to them.

They should have a family sections, and let the supporters decide where they wanna go. I mean a young wild chick wont mind going to the hardcore section, shout out curses, maybe get her titties slapped a little bit, but imagine a family with kids going to these sections.
Ofcourse this way there still might be a chance that some creepers sneak in to the family section, but they will be in minority over there, and could be easily handled.

Banning all the chicks from one section isnt such a good idea. Some females might wanna go to these sections, and be a part of hard core ultras.

This is a very happy day. Forza Bremen! Hopefully this is the last time we ever see Milan playing in a European competition.

Now I wish that Chelsea and Arsenal can complete and job and kick Juve and Roma out of the Champions League.

I am a Zenit fan and that article is bogus and not authorized by the club. It is just one group making a ruling, and well, Russians tend to be fairly sexist.

You have to understand, the "fan council" is mostly made up of the hoolie groups, and the team really never endorsed them as some kind of official advisory committee. when Gazprom bought the team, they officially stopped listening, but didn't terminate the loose collection of fanatics, more for eyewash than anything else.

Don't believe a bit of it until it shows up on the team website, which of course it never will. You think for one second V. I. Matvienko, who in addition to being a political power you just don't want to mess with (there's a reason that Miller has tried to involve her in the team's PR events,) had a lot to do with getting the new stadium built and who is a huge fan of the team - would willingly acquiesce to this? No chance. Gazprom is Gazprom, but even they don't move a muscle without running it past Putin's right hand gal.

True. :p

I'll give a slight support for Udinese but there's a better chance that the sun will rise from the West before Udi wins it.

It is the best tournament to watch now. No English scum and no Juve, Milan. So I can see any game and just cheer for good football irrespective of the outcome.

Udinese beats Zenit on aggregate. Hopefully they'll get another eastern european team in the quarter. They've already beaten 2 Russian and 1 Polish team this season.

gay City went through by penalty. Still have to tolerate an english in Uefa Cup.

So that's it: Bremen, PSG, Dynamo, Shakhtar, Udinese, Man City, Hamburger and Marseille are at 1/4 final. Hope Udinese can keep their feet on the ground.
