Well, Lazio did it. They're in the last 16 of the Champions League.

For the first time in 20 seasons. Last time they reached the 2nd group stage phase (we need that back) where they failed to qualify vs Real Madrid, Leeds and Anderlecht in 2000-01.

No, they were not the favorites but they were amongst them.

They had an easy time in the first group stage (Arsenal, Shakhtar's first try, Sparta Prague who were quite strong back then)

The favorites iirc were Bayern, Valencia, Deportivo La Coruna, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. Lazio was included of course. As was Milan.
If you follow the Retro thread, you'd see that I mention a couple of times in that year how Juventus crashed out of the first group stage, with Zidane headbutting people vs Hamburg and various other stuff. And how Milan crashed out of the 2nd group phase.

I know no one wants to hear it, but it's better for us if Juve wins their group.

That would knock Barca off the top seed line while simultaneously reducing the number of potential opponents for us in the next round since we can't win our group.

(I would still rather seem them finish second and draw Bayern next round, of course)

Holy crap. Turkish side Basaksehir leaves the pitch as they claim the 4th ref suspended their assistant for being... black. It felt like the guy was asking a PSG member of staff or player why he made that remark. Allegedly it was the 4th ref... Referee team is Romanian, not sure if the 4th is also Romanian.

And they're gone now. Crazy shit.

Apparently the fourth ref dropped the n-word when referencing the player he was carding. If you watch the video you can clearly hear the red carded person shouting "why you say n-?"
