Yeah. Wrote in another thread that Messi doesn't fit to Conte like AT ALL. But like browha said, if you get that chance so sign such player, you sign the player. The global marketing boost would be yuuuuuuge. It would be expensive as hell but tax reduction will help in that regards, massively, compared to CR7 and Juventus. Though his annual salary would be higher but tax reduction mitigates that and there wouldn't be anything to amortize (unless they structure the deal to include huge signing on fees). CR7 annual amortized cost is 25m€ so that's like 1/3 of the overall annual cost. I believe we would be able to get the annual cost of Messi to under 70m€ with 50m€ annual net salary.

I'd rather Inter have a well-balanced team then just to sign Messi because he is Messi. This is me as a fan talking, ofcourse the management thinks in other ways and would no doubt see benefits regarding marketing/branding.

It'd be interesting to pair Messi up with Lukaku - Lukaku has great hold up play, playing Messi slightly deeper than him and using Lukaku to play in Messi could be really interesting... like snachez on steroids (literally, lmfao)

I take Messi as Di Natale kind of a player. He also was never a defensive powerhouse, but he made the magic, and what do you know... he played in 352 the best, next to a striker. But, we'll see.

If Messi is available, every club will bend backwards to sign him. Messi is on decline and not good as peak Messi, still he is the best player in the world.

Any club he signs for will be favorites for the league title, obviously there are few few clubs who will be his preference.

His only destination is Inter, really. Real is a no no, Atletico is not as big club (stature wise). Man City will not take him with Pep, Klopp will not take him either I think due to low workrate. In Germany with Bayern would be the same thing I think (workrate) and also they have a system set up for 4-2-3-1 where there is no room for him. In Italy jube don't have the money, same for Milan. Psg I think is too low of a stature of the club. Neymar went there for money, I don't think Messi wants to milk his career now, he has enough money.

Also, the best system for him would be 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 imo, as a second striker. Only Atletico (but he has too low of a workrate) or Inter would fit with this in mind too.

He would have massive wages, the kind that will affect the wage bill of the whole club, unless he takes a pay cut but it's unlikely and he would still be expensive as shit, I would say PSG or Chelsea can afford him, we might be able too but again there would be such a big side effect that could linger and hinder us or any other club for years to come (case in point the cunts), I'm not sure it will be worth it.

Imagining him playing alongside Lukaku seems like the stuff only enjoy would think of as a possibility, regardless of how good the Big Rom has been for us so far (and he hasn't been great imo but still pretty good especaially as of late) it would just look wrong lol.

That's just the logical part in me thinking this out. However, I can't deny how ecstatic I would be if we do somehow get him, even with the huge risks.

No way Messi is leaving that club though. It is basically his life. He will retire there and move on to some other function within the club, be it as the new SAF or something in the management. He basically already decides who's welcome and who isn't or what his trainer should be doing. Why would he want to walk away from such influence. If he whines, it's probably not because he wants to leave but because he wants even more of it.

If god forbid the guy would join Inter, we better pray he'll know his place. Because if that semi narcissistic bullshit continues here just because he is Messi, he will do us more harm than good. Personally I'd love it if he remains at farca as he's currently bringing them these exact problems and it is glorious to behold.

Not the best player in the world anymore. Best forward passer ever, but that is not a reason to buy him. 2 years ago he was still bossing, but he is running out of steam.

In my opinion De Bruyne, but it doesn't really matter, because that can change monthly. I just know Messi in the last 2 seasons is not on par with his best years, and not the player to heavily depend on. Still he put up amazing figures, but most of his goals this season were free kicks and penalties.

There are many players that contribute more than Messi right now - open play wise. The only thing, like I said before, that nobody can touch Messi, is his passing. The speed, the dribbles, the strength, scoring goals from open play... Not there anymore. That is why I don't think getting Messi this late is a good idea.

Don't have one.
Messi declined, but messi needs to decline at least another two years and in this current trajectory so that somebody can touch him in terms of best player award. People got accustomed to his greatness, that's the problem.

I don't agree with that. Messi is the best player in the world.

Exactly. Messi is not the same Messi he was but he is still the best player in the world.

tbh, barca need money - plusvalenza would go a long way for them atm

obviously his salary would practically fix all their problems alone, but the plusvalenza would help them take some needed write downs like Cou and Dembele

We would be giving them zero plusvalenza. He's out of contract next summer. I doubt there's any club buying him. He goes for free if he goes. Like has been stated in his contract, he can inform Barcelona in May at the latest if he wants to tear the contract and walk away for free. Next summer even that isn't needed.

While it would be great to say we have messi, even a declining messi, I just fear us becoming a 1 man team or pop aided if that makes sense. Also, like others have pointed out, to secure him he’d still be on massive wages even with a pay cut so while it would be good if not great short term it could really come back to bite us in the longer term and affect future transfer windows and strategies.

I just fear us reverting back to the ‘banter era’ cause of FFP limitations restricting what we can spend and therefor who we can the. Bring in. I would rather us take the the money and invest to strengthen all areas over the next couple of transfer windows to keep us competitive for the long term.

If we bought him, we know we’d also never be able to offload him, similar to the pains juve are having right now.

How does that make any sense. He was the best player, but he never won anything substantial with Argentina, while CR7 did with Portugal. Also CR won more CLs, with two different clubs even. Clearly the CR of this season outscoring everybody but Lewa makes him better than Messi.

Prime Messi>> prime CR, but overall CR won it in 3 different leagues and won it more. Clearly in that stratosphere CR is vetter.

Alot of people are talking about the demise of Barca and this humiliating defeat, but let's stand still and take a look at how great Bayern was.
Full press for nearly 90 minutes is something I, and I'am sure you guys aswell, have never seen before.

Even after being ahead with a few goals Bayern just kept on pressing and completely and utterly destroying their opponent. It couldn't have happened to a better opponent (bar juBe ofcourse) then Barca.

Bayern is on a run right now, if I remember correct, only 1 loss, 2 draws and 34 wins since the coach took over.

Is that one defeat vs Leverkusen, the team we won against? :datass:
