I know but he still played 3 straight years in Italy. I never thought that they should be 3 straight years in only one Italian club..

They have to straight in one club.

But it's rather ironic that Orlandoni qualifies as a home grown player. He was part of the inter youth system way back in the old days so we can use him.

But we will be fine. We have enough youngsters .

Inter is the joke of the Serie A. 3 Italian Roster players? And only 1 of them actually play? Get this disgrace of a club out of the country and ship it to South America where it belongs.

FORZA ROMA!!!!!! A TRUE ITALIAN TEAM.

Too bad Maresca won't come, it would be the ideal player for Inter.

Right now not counting Chino we have 19 free players, 2 club trained players, and 2 Association trained players. We can have a maximum of 3 association trained players, meaning if we want the full 25 man squad for next year's CL, then we better get a really good club trained players (impossible- so a youth player will do) and a really good association trained player (an Italian basically.....unless you can find a foreigner who did time in the slammers from age 15 to 21)

Cassano?

This also means that if we sign any more high profile guys.....then unless we get rid of a player, then that person is useless for our CL campaign unless we take someone like Cesar or Solari off the CL registration list

I didn't get it either. Fabio must be drunk or I'm just not drunk enough to understand it.

No and we didn't say don't get Italians. We just want the best players for inter irrespective of nationality.

Thats the difference here. some of us want Italians in the side others of us don't care as long as they are the best available players.

But people want the best available Italians, given ALSO that Italy has won the recent World Cup, which in theory means that Italy produces great players. Even if in fact Brazil and Argentina produce much better players on average just to name a couple of countries ;)

AND, Inter, irrespective of its history and name, is an ITALIAN club, with ITALIANS attending its games. What if those Italians attending the games start throwing stuff in the stadium just because they want more Italians in the team? Who would care if Inter has fans elsewhere? (fack this is an extravagant example  )

Inter has only recently..."fulfilled" its destiny of having too many foreigners. After the 90s... So why wipe out 90 years of history, where the majority of the players were local, just because you may do so and it "goes along our objective, which is to include foreigners"...

Remember that Milan never wanted to have foreigners in the team. Inter was not created in order to have 95% foreigners play in the team, but was created to host a few foreigners as well!!! Until recently, there was a 3 non-EU players, and then 5 non-EU players. Well, we don't have many EU players either, but that's another story, not worth mentioning. The point is that we lack local blood, people that could have lived their whole life watching Inter at the San Siro and not some foreigners like us who just wish to attend a couple of games in our whole lives...

good post yuko. It is definetly embarassing to be representing Italia in the CL and have no Italian players in the lineup.

Well that depends how you classify eu players. A lot of our players have dual nationality and an italian/spanish passport.

So again it's a matter of different mindsets . Both sides have good points.

If there was a great italian player available at the same price as the foreign player of the same quality sure it would make sense to get the italian instead but that simply doesn't happen in the real world. The italian is usually double the price or not for sale.

I would like to have local player but not neccesarily italian players but rather guys who came through the inter youth system.

Though Stefan... about the rules and ties with Italians. Would you rather list up 3 shitty Primavera guys or 3 Italians who'd cost us 10 millions if bought young? Next year we need as as many players as possible for the group-stage atleast because of bans and now we need to get rid of some useful guys because of UEFA limits. What we'll do if injuries come hunting in middle or more bans occur in our defence. We have to have Dennis Esposito on bench or starting who'll probably play most of his career in Serie B or fight for relegation in A if lucky.

Nothing to do with any discussion. I remember Moratti saying clearly at around April/May, or maybe it was Mancini aswell, that he wants more Italians in team. So far I've seen no serious negotiatons about buying any Italians, to add to it we're actually giving away our last good one's. Toldo and Andreolli could leave, all hail Orlandoni. And the last normal Italian we have could be Materazzi after this summer.

We never go for any Italian talents that have actually a proven reputation in Serie A. Bonera was available for bag of chips last summer, we could've gotten rid of the bad Columbian horror movie and bought 3 Bonera's for that money.

I doubt our club actually knows rat ass about Serie A, B, C talents. All they seem to know on scouting level is who plays okay for Montechiari in the Allievi Nazionali league or which amateur scored 20 goals in Serie D.

Players are professionals... They don't pay that much attention to their childhood ties as amateurs do...

Cassano is an Interista. He scored though plenty of times against us!
Vieri is a juventino. He's scored against juve loads of times, and was facking happy about it.

Zanetti was not an Interista when he arrived, and if I can recall, he said that he supported Napoli in Italy... What's he doing now?

You are simply contradicting yourself now, as you say that nationality does not matter, even if you are talking about Italian football, and then go ahead and say that the team you support does matter, even if it's still Italian football we are talking about. Same darn thing... How many of your quality players you want are Inter fans or weren't Milan or juve fans as kids? Zlatan was an Interista, and has spent 2 seasons at zebra house. One was great, the second not so good. Yet, he gave his all. Same as he did at Inter this first season...

I have an issue with signing a player who supports juve or milan. Any other side but those 2. It has nothing to do with nationality. It could be an argentine but if he says he supports milan or juve I don't want him at Inter.

It's irrational but it's the way I feel about this issue.

I could find to you many players that have played for Inter that in the past declared themselves fans of either team ;)

For me it makes no difference, unless the player gives a right to dislike him. I know Toldo has been a Milanista since he's youth, but he gave his 100% for Inter and now declares himself an Interista. But I know I'd never accept Gattuso as an Inter player...
