We had some really nasty floods about ten years ago, and I'm also pretty sure that we got EU funds and grants to invest into contingency systems for it... and yet we - talking about my own country but also knowing how Balkans are, other countries very likely too - did fuck all with that money and are just as ill prepared for it as back then.

It was 2014, and it's the same here, always wondering when the next flood is coming yet doing fuck all to prepare.

Similar arguments are being had here after recent floods on the mid-east coast of Australia. But nothing will happen, no government intervention.

Further tax cuts to mining companies here though... I'm sure that's in the pipeline.

I use to play a couple times in week in the summer, but that was when you walked the course, paid $12 for 18. Play only occasionally now with some friends and borrow their clubs. They try for pars and birds and take multiple drives off a tee at one hole to see if they can clear the trrees and cross the water hazard to the green drinking beers along the way. Have to rent a cart and pay 52 for 18 now, other ones close 100 bucks. It's an activity really, but you wouldn't know it since its on TV all the time even have their own cable channel devoted to it. Of course its played for big money. But then in America so is bowling and poker for gosh sakes and on ESPN to boot! Never underestimate the dumbness of Americans, what they call "sport".

i remember i was having dinner with a "well off" family, and the wife kept saying padel will pick up.. fucking hell it did. I even saw one in Riyadh the other day.
