Man was it really necessary for powell to tease 3 cuts next year?
A. The economy is still to strong for cuts to be necessary..
B. inflation not where it needs to be jet.
C. In the market all it did was make shit cos fly.... like do we really wamna rebubble?
D. Only way we should get 3 cuts in 24 is if shit hits the fan....

Anyways i just dont understand why he would give such ammuniton to bulls.....

I mean, how about European Central Banks though? Like what the fuck are they doing? US pushed harder after the recession and did much better. Now their inflation is going lower, and they are keeping growth, it makes sense to cut rates.

On the other hand UK/EU are hiking/being hawkwish while being 3 months away from a "mild" recession. I'd rather have the US issue.

Agreed again my beef is with the teasing of the cuts not the actual action which was to stay put...

Like what economic indicator do you have to tease 3 cuts now when you only kind of have inflation under control..
Imho guidance could and should have been less dovish....
Then again when it comes to the fed i ve disagreed many times with what they communicated their actions were pretty much spot on except for raising a bit late imho.

Not necessarily academic, but if it thematic information (think retail history of the USA, from small convinience stores, fridge innovation and supermarkets, then costco.. id be interested in how changes in x had an impact on y).

Last book, I read was the Chip wars and I loved it. I am interested in things like that.

I see dont have to many tech ralated ones: King of Oil: bio of Marc Rich
The man who solved the market: on jim simons
Easy Money: on crypto
The shipping man: (part triller part text book on shipping and teh finance behind it)
Losing the signal: on black berry
Samsung rising: (probably not that intresting if you dont have money on it)
No filter: the insta story
I liked the everything store back in 14 i guess not sure how well it held up with amazons developpment though.
Used to like the tencent and baba stories but kind of usless now that the CCP is calling the shots
The bank that lived a little on Barclays
Damage goods: The BHS scandal
Empire of Pain: on the sacklers
Kochland: The koch empire and their influence on the US
Small giants: on smallish companies that decided to be great instead of Big....

Think those are the closest i get to what you asked for

Other reccomendations would be:
Anything written by shiller and Akerlof: Mostly behavioral finance some highlights are Animal spirits, Think fast and slow.
Also nudge the houre between wolf and dog and misbehaving are all real good. Almost forgot phishing for fools.

House of Wire card also real good imho
and the match king.

Not exactly what you asked for but some gems in there..

just to add a few books that I liked that could be useful for someone else:

Mondo Agnelli - Book on fiat and the general Agnelli, at times a bit too focused on the family, made me fall in love with Marchionne
The world for sale - Really good book on traders, it gives you a good idea on how information changed alot of the trading. Also a few good nuggets on commodities.
Basic Economics (this is from Thomas Sowell), it has some really interesting chapters on convinience stores/supermarkets.
The Corporation and the twentieth century - really fascinating book a bit more "serious".
Chip Wars - really felt like a crash course on tech industry. Really good in depth, especially loved how business models evolve.
Disrupted - Ludicroous misadventures in the tech start up bubble - Adriano would love this book lol.
Money for nothing - South Sea bubble, read this in 2022 iirc, and my days it may as well have been published in 2021. History repeats itself.

Literally any book by Valclav Smit.

Thinking of tossing a small bet on Peloton for some pocket change sometime in the next year. Should I wait? Pass?
Haha glad i got nervous and offload this crap at 30% gain. What a dumb medium term investment idea

I have most of my securities in ETFs that I don’t actively manage, but I’ve been enjoying throwing around some side cash to make more immediate gains. I think I may actually be quite decent at it 😃
