Not saying it s our problem i just really would love to know what happened behind the scenes that they let it come to this....
By my count this is the third venture (their football Club in China is literally gone, Suning needed a bailout/Zhang resigned, and now Inter) that has gone bust. At some point you just have to acknowledge they're in too deep and move on.

What an incredibly odd way for this to end.

Moratti:

Moratti on Zhang and Inter

Speaking to Calciomercato.com, Moratti was first asked if he expected things to end this way for Suning at Inter and his thoughts on Zhang.

“I have to say no, I was convinced that somehow there would be a backlash and that the Zhang family would postpone certain obligations a little longer. Then in the last few days I understood the direction well.

“I’m so sorry for Steven, he was very good and won important trophies. I heard from him a few weeks ago, I’ll try to call him but it’s not easy to get in touch with him in China.”

Moratti spoke about his hopes for Inter under Oaktree.

“I hope that this new fund doesn’t only look at the financial aspect, also because I believe that after an initial management, they will look for a buyer and it’s important that in the meantime the club do well, remaining at a high level.

“I hope for the same sense of protection that Zhang had towards the club.”

He commented on the contract renewals of Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella and Simone Inzaghi.

“It will depend on the principles of the fund and the aspects that they consider the priorities. I really hope they all renew.”

Moratti rated Zhang’s time in charge of Inter.

“I would give him an 8 on his report card. From a sporting point of view, he did great things. I don’t know how to evaluate the financial side.”

Finally, Moratti sent a message to Zhang.

“As an Inter fan I would only say thank you. He deserves it from everyone.”

I really believe we will end up better. Zhang might be passionate to Inter but his management level seems...naive, understandable considering his age.

Antonello has been the least convincing link in our management, but still the only one granted lifetime contract.

As the most successful Serie A club recently, our sponsorships look underwhelming. Less than Milan level iirc. Yes they have bigger history but won like 1 Scudetto for decade. Oaktree should do better.

Crypto scam. Speechless.

Asking ridiculous 1.2 billion then lose the club like this. Zhang jr simply relies the fate his biggest asset on the Pimco loan, when they refuse then he is left empty handed. All the stuffs are without awareness, means he doesnt plan at all for the backfire. Plus the clause "another loan might cause 50m?!? penalty" I never understand. Yonghong Li-esque.

Him not joining Inter celebration doesnt looks good for the president image either. So no LGI sufficient imo.

Legend status

Losing club due to arrogance and negligence

Didn’t have an issue with him but waiting till the end to resign Skriniar should have tought this guy to not make that mistake twice

Thanks for the titles won under the ownership but man this is exactly why you don’t put your idiot son in charge

Just losing the club does not qualify him for LGI.

I'm not voting him LGI because I'm not convinced he actually did anything? His dad owned the club and funded this. It's not like Steve has any of his own money tied up here.

At that point I'm basically voting for Steven LGI because he hired Marotta. I'll pass on that and just vote Marotta LGI.

Couldnt you make the same arguement against Moratti?

He's the only son, what's his dad's is his. That's how old school asians are.

Moratti was the owner when his father had passed. I don't see the comparison without getting into any cultural differences.

Not even close bro.

Moratti was an heir, surely, but he kinda reclaimed Inter back and funded the fuck out of the club.
15 years after his dad had passed...
The Moratti family lost control in 1968 and Massimo started buying shares under the Pellegrini regime until he got the entire thing back.

Steve Zhang was being funded as much as Inter was in the first 4-5 years. Zero autonomy and we're hearing he was running the club?

His tenure as President includes hiring Marotta but also overseeing commercial disasters and it's his signature on the Oaktree deal, whether or not he wanted to sign the dotted line or knew what he was doing.

He's done fuck all, other than tell the directors what his dad wanted to tell him and them.

Some crazy posts here saying if he wasn't Chinese or what not. It screams the opposite. If he wasn't Chinese you wouldn't be supporting him so much and if he was Italian you'd be joining a line asking for his head

What others said in this thread, love what suning did for us, its so sad that it had to come to this.

2 Serie A and multiple other cups/finals. All of this from our worst banter era.

I think for some weird reason that only a small portion of fans on FIF don't appreciate Steven, and what he achieved, while the rest of the fans here and 90% in the world can't speak highly enough of him.

Haters gonna hate.

The fact of the matter is that no Zhang family, no titles for Inter, even if Thohir hung around for 5 more decades.

Quote me, twist my words, straw man the fuck out of me, do whatever you want. Not gonna enter into any debate about this, as I respect opinions, but also will point out when someone is wrong.

I'm sorry in advance, but whenever this happens to me, especially in real life, I remind myself that there are people who would rather die than admit that Earth isn't flat.

The same people would argue about Klopp sucking ass, because if it wasn't for that lucky corner no Champions League, and if it wasn't for the covid season no Premier league title.

You just see these patterns.

Not comparing their contributions to the club, just source of funds.

Pimpin's post sums it up. Our worst ever banter era, he pulls us out from it and wins 2 leagues and gets us to a CL final. I wasnt sure I'd ever see inter in a CL final again in my lifetime.
