also its not that he said it best, he just says god *random bullshit* and makes an awkward face with a random voice. All atheists worship him and use him wherever they feel insecure about their beliefs, makes them think they are smarter more complicated

agree with everything.

but to stay in topic; does anyone know if there will be any release from Dave Chappelle from his "tour" this year?

Okay, that's fair enough. I was just curious. Having someone around to keep you on your toes can often be a good thing anyway.

oh yeah it is man, I can understand you how it can be a deal breaker though .

I need some Aziz Ansari right now tbh. Used to love Katt Williams but dude fell off big time.

not just this girl, but all atheists that I have met use him as an argument, like it fucking irritates me so much.

I'm sorry he is not the best stand up comedian, for me Dave Chappelle is the GOAT

maybe you just don't want to hear what he has to say. It's not like his acts are all about religion.... that's like 0.1% of what he talks about.

It's not jokes, he was not a comedy central type of stand up guy, was a badass ever since '80. He just spoke his mind and that's that. Religion jokes? Mostly they are nice arguments against unlogical 'rules and stories' religions have. And he had nothing against people having their faith - the only thing he wanted was to see was 'keep thy religion to thyself' or something like that, because the American society is annoying with the Jesus this, Jesus that & some Atheists tend to go too far with God/religion hate

Carlin even admitted that he was catholic in his youth (cuz it was forced on him, ofc), so he spoke why he wasn't catholic anymore and everything is understandable, EVEN TO SOME CATHOLICS themselves (yes he also has catholic fans)!!!

I don't know what's your problem with Atheists, if there is something wrong them and if they force their opinion on you, okay, I understand that, fuck those people, but if it's just because you see them post a video of George Carlin and saying I respect this guys opinion, that's totally different.

The problem with stand-up comedy is that it doesn't translate well from USA-to-UK. I think the main reason for this is because of all of the restrictions there are in USA regarding what people would find acceptable/unacceptable. If a stand-up comedian in USA referred to anyone as the N-word, they'd probably never get on TV ever again. In the UK, however, several comedians are known for their racist jokes, and I believe Frankie Boyle dropped the N-bomb twice on his Channel 4 show, and the next week, he was on TV! Personally, I prefer everything unrestricted. I think offence is something that is interpreted, and it is really up to us - the audience - to understand that these are jokes from a comedian, and not a political speech from the Prime Minister! I also feel that the humour aspect of comedy doesn't translate well, either. I would estimate that every other episode of '8 Out Of 10 Cats' has a North American comedian on it, and I always feel they are the weakest or least funny on the show.

That being said, I really love Larry David. He's not so much a stand-up anymore, but his writing on Curb Your Enthusiasm and his speeches at charities, talk shows, and award ceremonies are hilarious. I also love David Mitchell, Frankie Boyle, and Jimmy Carr. Would fuck Katherine Ryan.

Stand ups or stand downs, the best comedians are those that make you laugh then make you think. Saying George Carlin's jokes on religion are wack...? They're actually some of his best material. George Carlin is a legend; along with Bill Hicks, he's the grandaddy of dark comedy.

The most unfunny stand up comedians/materials are the ones that involve curses and dirty jokes, and specially those who yell while doing it. Once I see a stand up comedian doing this I can't help but finding him the most annoying person in the world. I believe the majority of stand up comedians are like this, and the worst part is that they have a huge fan base.

I love them both Carlin and Hicks, but dark comedy will always be very hit or miss with people

Here at around 17th minute Louis CK, Seinfeld, Gerveis and Chris Rock discuss that issue. Is it cheating when you curse to be funny?

For me it's ok, but Seinfeld clearly manages to get there without using it or some racial slurs, as well. He avoids it completely, while Lousi CK doesn't afaik.

Exactly. These are the kind of stand up comedians that I consider talented. Making people laugh without cursing and such is truly a talent.

Don't mind Pimpin's reasons for unliking Carlin. Ofc people that have faith don't like to hear how their God is something man created and stuff like that. Pimpin is serious about his believes and I respect that.

But he is wrong that only atheist/agnostic people like Carlin and that we like him only for that.
