I don't agree with you there, Puyol did not even touch Henry, it was the revenge of Henry from what happened in the final of the CL.

I am 100% sure Puyol made contact with Henry. Not an elbow, but there was definite contact.

By the way, if Luis and the arrogant spanish idiots from the media are idiots, don't mean all the spanishs are idiots, arrogants and racist like them! please.

Are you talking to me? If so, I never said or implied that. I normally like the Spanish NT, league and players. I don't generalize or stereotype. My beef is only with Aragones. I don't think he is racist (Eto'o knows him well and said he isn't) but he should have apologized.

Anyway, I hope he quits or gets fired, this Spanish team was stacked with talent.

And I hope they don't hire one of the same recycled coaches again (Camacho etc.) They need someone new with new ideas, someone like Michel of Madrid (my choice) or Guardiola (not sure if he'd coach the Spanish NT) or even Irrureta.

Talent is still there. Casillias, Ramos, Xavi, Cesc, Alonso, Villa, Pablo etc. still have at least two WC's in them. They just need a new direction (like Portugal) and a coach with a new thinking (Quique(?) of Valenica is also good, but I doubt Valenci would release him.)

Dammit I was rooting for Spain too. I hate the farking Frogs with a passion and it makes me sick to see them progress. Can't believe Puyol made such a critical, or is it dumb?, mistake. Henry was going absolutely nowhere even if he did get to the ball. :wallbang:

Now it falls upon Brazil to eliminate the hated French.

Irureta would be great, he have European experience in big games, Luis don't have anything of that, too bad he has signed with Betis this summer but who knows what happen in the next 4 years.
I have never thought what i'am gonna to say, but Spain really needs a non-spanish coach, someone like Hiddink or LeGuen who bring new ideas to the team, i hope next coach it's not the typical defensive coach and continue playing with the midfield, xavi-alonso-cesc, for me the best of the world cup, very creative and in 2010 they will be all still young, i trust in them.

Luis, what a moron, i said it days ago and now i say it another time.
he starts with 2 strikers and very early in the second half he drop 2 of them 2 enter 2 wingers, i'am not saying joaquin and luis garcia played bad, but u can't drop villa that way, raul ok, he is finished.
but, what about the xavi change? luis killed all our hopes there, we were playing good football before the change of xavi for senna.
oh and pernia is horrible, now some people will think that rivery is world class, and i'am not saying ribery is bad but pernia is horrible, getafe player LOL, what a joke.

and the ref another idiot, that was not fault over henry, he dived, and yellow card for puyol, why?

agreed there..

two things that cost spain were the stupid subs by grandpa aragones and the "foul" which wasn't really one.

I mean...whatever it was, it wasn't a yellow card.
However, Ramos has to mark Vieira better on the far post. A freekick like that from way out is not supposed to go in.

Hamoudi..

Pepe Guardiola might take over the Catalonia Selecion one day ;), but I strongly doubt that he will coach the Spanish national team. Although he did his thing always for Spain, he is a strong Catalan Nationalist. I doubt that he would coach the spanish team.

Irrueta..hm...not really. I would go for Manzano, the Mallorca coach.

Javier Zanetti,
Puyol is a blasted idiot. There was no need to even put his hand up around or near Henrys face. Henry would've never gotten to the ball, because a midfielder was coming from the side if Puyol waited.

Now they are out, too bad.

I have no quarells with the french, but I hope they decimate Brazil.

I too hope France kill Brazil, France could very well be the underdogs of this World Cup and if Zidane scores against Brazil then I will have no choice but to have an orgasm.

There was contact, but he hit him in the stomach, and Henry went down holding his face, trying to trick the ref into believing he got elbowed in the face.

I'm losing my respect for Thierry, after the CL final he proved to be a very bad loser, and yesterday he tried to cheat and get Puyol sent off, phuck that, what's happened to him?

well...he didn't put his hand around or near henry's face..

btw. that goal wouldn't have happened, if sergio ramos had brain and marked vieira instead of humping around.

Thanks Mehdi.

This may not be the best pic, but it shows Puyol blocking Henry with his arm and Henry's jaws colliding with the back of Puyol's head (not very clear, but can see it in the clip.)

I don't think Henry took a dive, but the collision (in his jaws) was genuine.

Hamooudi now you are being extremly biased. If you have seen the video, Henry clearly is the one who bumps into Puyol, and then falls down, holding his head. That idiot, he is not a girl, not yet a woman. I guess he is in his transistional phase

If I am running and you stick your shoulder/arm in my path, of course I am going to bump into you.

It wasn't like the Grosso play where Grosso could have avoided Neill. Puyol blocked Henry's progress, and his reaction after the play tell me it was a block (but no elbow.)

BTW, Alex de Large or Mehdi, what is Puyol saying about the play (if anything)?

Edit: Never mind, I found this from soccernet. "For me it wasn't a foul, if anything it was a foul by him (Henry) because he came from behind and collided with me," Puyol told reporters after their second round defeat"

I respect Puyol alot, but he should have told the truth. When you block a player's path, of course he will collide with you, unless he can go through you or jump on top of you.

baba hamoudi, he ain't blocking anything. :)

it's not that he spread his arms out and whatever...henry ran into him and that's about it. the foul was absolutely ridiculous...

if that is a foul by puyol, then I guess you have to call foul for everything. :)

but that's all irrelevant...the one guy with the mistake was ramos not marking vieira. it's a joke that a freekick like that from far out turns into a goal.

Mehdi, from what I saw on TV and the pic that I posted, it was Puyol who exteneded his arm.

Did it ran into Henry or did Henry run into it? I guess it's like a car accident where everyone can claim that the other ran into him/her (if both were moving.) I still see it that Puyol tried to obstruct Henry (needlessly I might add.)

Anyway, like you said, it was a joke that it lead into a goal!

P.S: I hope Baba in Persian means big brother, because in arabic it means father. I might be old enough to be a father for some members, but not you! :D

I just watched the replay for that incident onvolving Puyol and Henry. Puyol did extend his arm a little to try to block off Henry, but I think it was sheer overexaggeration by Henry. Puyol made contact with Henry's chest, and yet Henry fell down like a sack of bricks whilst holding his face.

I used to respect and admire Henry a lot, but he really shouldn't have done what he did.
