So we spared some 30%. The good thing is that we only cut costs, not quality. But unless we invest that money or at least part of it, nothing changes for us supporters.

we drop wages, we removed most redundancy, but team is more compact and have not drop quality. It is a huge plus to the club. We are on our way to say goodbye to FFP

It means we have room to operate, for both keeping icardi/perisic and adding depth.

say what you will of this summer, but I loved the fact that we did not make any panic buys.

sure, that'a good thing. but it's also, kind of... a given. rather than a "+", it's merely a "-" when you make that mistake.

i don't want to sound as a negative Nancy, but i don't quite like the equation "we spared = good". per se, it's not good. it is, when it gives real advantages to the club.

A shortened market? How buyout clauses would be affected: Icardi and Strootman specifics

Most of Italy is agreeing with the decision made by the Premier League to shorten the summer market window, to end before league play starts. "No to the open market when the championships start" is the battle cry made by Marotta, Ausilio, Mirabelli among others. Only a few, probably only Walter Sabatini, would prefer an open market all year round.

EYE TO CLAUSES - The well-known international agent and broker Beppe Bozzo, talking to Sky Sport's microphones, pointed out that a problem might arise from a few details in current contracts. A special case? The waiver clauses in many contracts is not as relevant in Italy as they are abroad. "While it will be different for players and executives, we are always working. These clauses will have to be changed in this new system. That will lead to the discussion of these contracts. Fortunately in Italy there are only a few, while abroad there are a lot more."

ICARDI AND STROOTMAN AT RISK - The limited cases opened by the words of the agent, involves, among others, Juventus attacker, Federico Bernardeschi. And it is especially true for some bigs Serie A stars. A 110 million EUR buyout clause valid only until July 15th was included in the contract of Mauro Icardi, with Inter, which in case of payment, would take more than a month… This is also the case of Kevin Strootman who has just signed a renewal with an invalid buyout clause in August Not only that, but also the Napoli defender, Hysaj, Mertens, and Brozovic, all have details that need to be re-evaluated. It’s a change that could brings other changes.

I am not sure what methodology has been used in that GdS report. But by rough calculations above:

- We got rid of players worth almost €50m in gross wages this summer
- We got in players with around €19m in wages

So that makes it a reduction in wages of around €31m, give or take depending on the nature of loan deals. Plus we settled contracts for 3 coaches and their staff (Mancini, De Boer, Pioli), which could easily make the total €38m reduced after we factor in Spalletti's wages.

So yeah, the numbers are plausible. Its been a good summer from a FFP point of view. Which is great news, because if we qualify for the CL, then we have space in our wage structure to take on some heavyweights next summer.

Thanks for the explanation Bluenine, now the numbers made more sense. Even if we lacked some players, improving our squad while cutting 31m in players wages is amazing.

Even if Suning is able to start pouring money again, we really need to be financially sustainable in the near future.
