Finally we win a match in a convincing manner. IMO, the most important things that contributed to this win were: 1- Conte finally stopped rotating the defense every match and realized rotating too much doesn’t help with continuity. Changing one player when we have a weak opponent and a busy schedule is fine but changing the whole defense every freaking game was stupid and hopefully Conte is over that. 2- Switching back to 3-5-2 and moving Barella to where he belongs, in front of the defense.

I thin this game just showed that 3-4-1-2 simply doesn’t work with this squad. With a DM instead of AM we have a much more stable team. That means that there is no place for Erikssen but for the good of the team so be it.

The problem wasn't we were rotating the defence. The problem was our backup options in defence are extremely poor. Ranocchia is a decent De Vrij backup against the bottom half of the table but D'Ambrosio has been terrible in the rcb role and the less said about Kolarov the better. So we can't afford rotating the defence.

Regarding Barella, i don't think he belongs in front of defence. He did an ok job as a regista but his best position is box to box and that's where he should always play.

Lastly, it was obvious since last season 3-4-1-2 doesn't suit our squad and we should stick with 3-5-2. Despite Conte denials, he had reverted back to 3-5-2 at the end of last season and that was the reason we were playing much better. Unfortunately, he went back to 3-4-1-2 in preseason. Perhaps he believed it could work with the addition of Vidal but that wasn't the case. 3-4-1-2 had stopped being about Eriksen for a while as Conte was insisting on it even when Eriksen was on the bench by playing Barella, Sensi or even Vidal in the AM role. Hopefully he finally realised 3-4-1-2 doesn't suit our squad and he will switch back to 3-5-2 for good.
