Anybody think we can conjure up another Deal of the Century with Eto'o for 50m euros and Tevez? There's already precedent that when we sell our best players, we do buy players to replace and improve the team.

City won't pay that much for Eto'o. No one will. But if Eto'o-Tevez swap really happened, Inter need to ask for like +20m€ in cash in that deal. Eto'o >> Tevez by far. Age is not an issue here, Eto'o is a perfect athlete and we can't know what Tevez wants to do with his career.

Eto'o-Tevez talks held in Dublin

Inter face Manchester City today in Dublin, but it’s reported they held talks last night for a Samuel Eto’o-Carlos Tevez exchange.

The two teams play each other for the Dublin Super Cup at 16.30 UK time and are staying in the same hotel.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, this gave their directors, including President Massimo Moratti, the perfect opportunity to hold negotiations behind closed doors.

Moratti flew in to Dublin on Saturday afternoon, but the Gazzetta dello Sport insists he was there to make it clear Eto’o is not for sale.

“Right now the Eto’o-Tevez exchange is improbable,” City manager Roberto Mancini is quoted as saying.

“Tevez is still a City player and he’ll arrive in Manchester over the next few days.”

The Argentine has a longer summer vacation than his teammates due to the Copa America.

Inter are still interested in signing Tevez, but are apparently not prepared to release Eto’o as part of the deal.

This meeting in Dublin will enable the two clubs to discuss these matters and ask Eto’o what his position is on potentially leaving the Nerazzurri.

Not sure about the salary. If Eto'o really nets 12m€ per season, that's just too much. Last summer the very same paper rumored about the salary cuts (contracts turned to basic salary + bonus type contracts) so that Eto'o would net around 8m€. Well, just speculation, GdS knows shit.

Anyway, like FR said, Eto'o is very important to us. He's the leading figure on the pitch, without him I'm sure our players would be much more insecure out there.
