I mean let’s wait until the season finishes before talking. What’s going to happen to us when Lautaro inevitably goes into a 3 month patch where he can’t score a goal?

Also according to some of you guys Lukaku is the worst striker in Inter history so why are you relieved he didn’t join Bilan or Rube?

Wasn't too long ago when people were ridiculed for suggesting precisely what we have now. Sure feels good to have a better all around squad.

I'm sure 'some of us' suggested Arnautovic and Cuadrado

Let's be honest here, you guys suggested something like Balogun + Pavard + Trubin for the price of one Lukaku. You only conveniently switch your narrative now after Arnautovic and Cuadrado have had some promising showings, as if this has always been what you wanted

What are you talking about? Who in their right mind suggested Balogun+Pavard+Trubin for Lukaku? Many people here suggested that we didn't have to sign Lukaku, instead we could sign a "lesser" striker and backfill other positions. No narrative changed at all.

Leeser sticker, but without any particular names, because many people thought that Scamacca could be available for 18-20mln, Balogun for 30, Beto for 20, etc.
In reality most of those players were pretty close to Lukaku's cost.
Many people here didn't want Lukaku, because he was Lukaku. I wanted him under some conditions (before his betrayal), because I knew it that it will be difficult to get similar quality for same price. But, if someone let me to choose between Arnautivic+Pavard or Lukaka at the beginning of the mercato, I would definitely have chosen the former option.

The point is some of you wanted to spend all the eggs in Lukaku and had no problem with it. A few of you even enjoyed the "meltdown" when someone suggested players like Dia or [insert other "lesser" striker than Lukaku] + an RBC. We aren't scouts, but all I knew was it was stupid to spend 40 fucking million for Lukaku with a high salary. Glad Lukaku fucked up and management was able to sign Arnau and Pavard for more or less the same fee.

I was under the impression the Lukaku money was not going to affect the other signings made, I'm sure @Il Drago said this in the Samardzic thread too (sorry if I'm wrong).

My impression was always we have money for position x, y & z.

I think the only player we got that we wouldn't have here is Pavard. I also think he only came because we got 3 cheap/free strikers (I say strikers lightly) and didn't sign Samardzic.

Would love to see him in Juve or Milan kit ngl. Imagine him blocking Vlahovic's header in Conference league final next season

So are you saying that we have 30m to spend on a striker? Because so far we've only spent 10 on Arnautovic and we were ready to pay 40m (35+5) for Lukaku?

Nobody wanted him for 40mln, except few individuals. For the most of people who wanted him, the limit was 35mln+7mln salary.
Dia is not cheap. He had 25mln release clause, and their president said that he cost 40. So, 25mln +32mlm for Pavard is total of 57mln.
In case if you suggest Dia+someone like Toloi, I'd take Lukaku.

Ah? Sure you're not mistaken me with someone else? This was my only post on Samardzic thread which was a general comment about the dirty world of agents.

Maybe i said it on another thread and i don't remember it. Perhaps a media report i had shared.

In hindsight we can clearly see now what their strategy was. They could make only one big signing with Onana money. They identified attack as the big weakness of the squad so their plan was for Lukaku to be that big signing. That's why they tried to get a rcb at a low cost (Nacho and Azpilicueta on a free, Koulibaly and Chalobah on loan). When Lukaku changed his mind they still tried to spend big on a forward (Balogun, Scamacca, Taremi). But they decided against it either because there wasn't enough money or they thought neither of the players was worth the cost. So they went for a low cost forward (Arnauotovic) and make an investment in Samardzic. When his dad ruined the deal they changed their minds again and they decided for the cb to be the big signing and they saw Pavard as a great market opportunity. And that's how we have ended up here.

Lukaku did have his uses (mainly first time round). Not gonna lie now that he was caught finger fucking Rube.

But I'm glad we did not sign him. Even before the whole Rube scandal was thinking this prick is only going to decline.

Yeah, strategy kept changing because Zhang kept changing his mind.

The thing is that with this owner, the "planning" needs to be very flexible because nothing is certain.

As for Lukaku, it's so close I want to go to that Inter-Roma match.

Lukaku did a favor to us to sabotage his permanent move to Inter. Can't thank him enough for this. Going to AS Roma is a good for both sides, player and the Romanese team. Dybala-Kaku combo will be a foce to pay attention to.
