I would never spend 40-45m straight up to Lukaku. That is fucking insane for 30-year-old player. I'd rather take a risk with someone else for the Scudetto.

Balogun has had 1 good season - if you're saying he's the same price, there's a huge risk that he's another JM golden handshake in 3 years time - I'd argue there's more risk with him than Lukaku. you're right, that with his age, there's potential for him to grow a lot and with re-sell value, but don't assume that these sort of things always work out.

It's huge risk indeed, but for me it's better to take it instead to pay 45mln+8.5mln salary for Lukaku. This will be 20+ mln/ year amortization cost, for 4 years deal, provided that GDC could be applied for the length of the full contract. If not, the cost will go near 30mln per year. This is insane.

I think we can get Beto for like 25mln. He can do similar to Lukaku job, and will be much cheaper when the salary is counted. Dia have 25mln option valid to the middle of July iirc. There is no way to be sold for less, as their president said that he is 40mln player, and they will try to remove the clause. Immobile is in decline, I would pass him.
We can snatch even Morata under Milan noses.

Exactly. We just told Brozovic, one of the best mids in the world, to get lost because he earns 12mil or so gross. Lukaku would cost the same, likely more + amortization. He’s getting older for a striker who relies on breakaway acceleration (although still big and strong) + he missed half of last season with an injury.

Maybe we sign him and he’s the serie A MVP again, but also it’s not much of a stretch to say we should be looking at other players. It’s not like Lukaku is the only forward on the planet and we still need to sign other players. Let the scouts do their job.
