I disagree with just about everyone here, I personally am still in awe that our club which has done fuck all in the world off football for about 10 years has still managed to acquire such a world class talent.

His records speak for themselves, his goals are his response.

I said this in the Toro thread as well, who would you seriously replace this guy with, with our finances (ffp, sale etc) who's 1. Wanting to play for us 2. Affordable in terms of contract.

This should not be the case.
He could bag 150 goals against the Beneventos and the Crotones when we are already 2 or 3-0 up and it would still not be good enough if he plays like Belfodil in important games especially if we consider the amount we paid for him.
I will also add that in terms of records he has just done nothing. At least in my opinion. 0 trophy, 0 capocannoniere title and he's right now behind 100 year old players like Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo. On par with Immobile, and not that far from Muriel who isn't even a starter and Belotti who plays for a club battling against relegation or even Lautaro who doesn't take penalty kicks. So it's not like he is doing anything incredible.

I don't hate him or anything but I'm sorry I couldn't care less if he didn't score that third and fourth goal against Benevento, that's stat padding, it doesn't help Inter, and I don't even think it helps him tbh.
Now it makes sense for people who don't follow Inter closely to only look at the amount of goals and not the game/context of the game in which they are scored but for the interisti who actually watch the game, I find it worrying that the "big guy", the "top 5 striker" is in a period where he just plays awfully and doesn't even score anymore apart from 2 easy goals against Benevento, a header against Fiorentina B, and a penalty against Milan.

He doesn't even get in position to shoot ffs, how many shots on target has he had in the last 5 games?

When it matters, he needs to step up otherwise all the talk about him being a top 5 striker is just bullsh*t.

We had two shots on target last night. Juventus had four. That blame squarely falls on the shoulders of Lukaku and Martinez; Martinez for constantly missing the net, and Lukaku for refusing to get involved in the play.

I what way is Lukaku world class? What world class abilities does he have? What makes you go wow this guy is good?
His positioning is awful, finishing questionable so is his first touch, mentality poor. He's only looked good because Cunte's tactic is play it to Lukaku.

If we get a good offer for him in the summer, take it and run. No games like Woodward unless Conte is the coach of the other team.

It's crazy how this guy looks so uninterested in particular occasions during the match. We are suffering so much offensively due to poor form of Lukaku and Lautaro, but man, this guy is so hopeless in critical moments. A player of his calibre should be able to draw the team forward and contribute much more than Lautaro (because of his experience).

Don't wanna go further but seriously this guy has to fucking step up. I wouldn't mind if we sell him if we eventually get a good offer for him. Same goes for Lautaro of course. In fact the latter one is so annoying and selfish and everything which causes headaches.

We can all agree that Icardi has a shit character, but the guy was direct and effective. Anything can be said, but he was always there in big and small games, scoring and being a decisive player for us. Now go ahead and tell me how we spoonfeed him million balls, and bla bla bla. It's either you can or you can't. No matter how many chances or what the circumstances are. Icardi was a cold as ice, and he didn't shit his pants.

Pretty much this, people can hate Icardi for his character but he stepped up for us. People keep defending Lukaku saying he helps with build up play bullshit, but what good does that do to us if he can't score goals when it matters?

Sorry, I beg to to differ.

If he always stepped up for us, we wouldn't have all those mid table finishes and shambolic exits from fucking Europa League during his time here.

There were games where Icardi stepped up, and there were games where Icardi didn't do jackshit when we expected a lot from him. Just like Lukaku.

Some people tend to bring this 'deliver when it matters' when it comes to Icardi because of his goals against Juventus, but it's not like he scored the all crucial winning goals in those games. We lost most of the time, drew a few, and only won like once? (If I remember correctly, the 2-1 home win in season 16/17 where Icardi scored a crucial equalizer). In fact, our most impressive win against Juventus during Icardi's time here was that 3-0 win in the return fixture of Coppa Italia 15/16, and Icardi didn't play in that game.

And his last season here, instead of being with the team to face Frankfurt in that Europa League knockout round, he faked a knee injury instead. Talk about stepping up when it matters, yeah?

Did I say he was Messi or Ronaldo?

Again, you are talking about his character. You must have forgotten about his amazing header against milan where he was the only one who read the movement of the ball that was wildly sent by vecino fooling donnaruma and milan df, or him scoring an equalizer against Barcelona and Tottenham in CL? Sure, Lukaku got us a 2-0 cushion win against Milan with Barella's amazing cross and the third goal against the likes of Benevento and Shaktar. I can see how you think Lukaku is more crucial than Icardi.

I'd be an ignorant not to admit that Icardi has had bad days, every striker does, but fact is Lukaku never has bad days against bigger teams because he simply just doesn't show up.

You can criticize Icardi's character all you want but you'd be ignorant not to admit that he's much more clutch and decisive than our beloved no.9, self proclaimed top 5 striker in the world and someone who creates great atmosphere in our dressing room by shouting at every God damn player except for Vidal whenever they don't pass the ball to him.

I don't mind Lukaku doesn't score against big team, as long as he keep banging against the smaller, cz all fixtures is important.
Look at how Ronaldo can't do shit vs Napoli, or Ibra vs Spezia. Thats also cost them 3 points, the points they won in big game vs Inter.

Well, it's not like he aint crucial to us. Yeah he might be flopping in big games so far, but he is still important as hell to us.

That's because the coach only knows one way to play.

He needs to score when we need him to. All games are important, as you said.

Of course, and he does score, no player on this planet can score everytime.

I don't understand the point "He needs to score when we need him to", so all this time he score when we doesn't need him to? Are you saying that all the goals he scores it doesn't important for us? We need to understand that every player have their plus and minus. It's the coach's job to utilize it.

I'm pleased Kaku has got on the scoresheet tonight, twice is great, hoping for a 3rd. This should see the return off Kaku scoring on the regular.
