I honestly can't believe there are those still hoping for a Champions League place. Mazzarri already did the damage. Get over it. If we get a Champions League place it would be a pure fluke.

I have consistently said we should drop out of Europe entirely. No Champsion's League. No Europa League. Allow Mancini to focus on the team, and the League solely next season and aim for a top three finish. This year is done.

I think it would still only be 3 Italian teams going through. So 1st, 2nd and the Italian winner of EL.

If that's the case would be great if Milan finishes 3rd and we win Europa.

It's far from done, more than half a season to go. We are 6 points from 3rd spot, and the teams above us are inconsistent as hell. Mancini needs to work consitently with the squad, and should be able to beat all those must win matches again small teams. We need CL football asap for the sake of our lack of money.

bergomi, baggio are my two dreams... but mancio wants someone younger.

why not cafe though?

For the assistant manager role, I would prefer Cambiasso (when he retires) or Materazzi, who will be free in a couple of weeks. Matrix is doing a great job at ISL. Its a minor league, but winning the league in your first ever stint is always a positive.

Apparently the assistant coach will be Sylvinho. Ex Arsenal, Barcelona & Man City among others.

lol.... what? Bro, we're 13 games into the season, there are still 6 games to go before the season is even half finished. There are only 6 points separating us from Napoli, with 25 games remaining, that's almost twice the amount of games we've played so far.

All your strategy would do would further instill a losing mentality into a team that has completely lost its winning mentality. You're basically saying, "Hey guys, there is no way you could finish in the top 3, so don't even try." We have the squad on paper to play for a top 3 place, all we need to do is execute on the field.

This is a (oh god, not this again) transition season. Hope for our players to play good football and not totally shame us, but don't expect anything but a preparation season for next season.

Also I wouldn't mind that 6 points gap if there weren't so many other teams in between.

This is not a transition year. People have been using that excuse for three seasons now. From the very beginning of the season, the objective was to fight for a Champions League spot. Why do you think WM was sacked? This is a team capable of making the top 3, it is in no way a transition year.

Sylvinho to join Mancini staff
By Football Italia staff

It’s reported Roberto Mancini’s assistant manager at Inter will be ex-Manchester City full-back Sylvinho.

Although Mancio replaced Walter Mazzarri at San Siro last month, he has yet to complete his staff with an assistant manager.

Multiple reports in the Italian media today suggest he has chosen Sylvinho.

The 40-year-old former Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester City full-back retired in 2010 and has since been working as an assistant manager at Cruzeiro, Recife and Corinthians.

Sylvinho knows Mancini from their time together at Manchester City and is expected to join within the next few weeks, if not days.

hmmm... meh.

That excuse will come soon.

Comedic Post of the Year

I don't know if this is a wallace type post or a series belief but it has to be addressed.

We are in no way a top 3 material team, neither in squad mentality nor personnel capabilities, and that is without including our league competitors in the argument.

The thought you mentioned, which originated from Thohir (and now Moratti in Zanetti’s latest gala) that we are good enough for a CL spot, is plausible if motivation was the driven reason. However, if it does exceed that to the point of conviction then it is beyond laughable. The same wrongful conviction that lead to the Mazzarri contract extension to begin with.

Look at the squad…

We have three loaned players (Osvaldo, Medel, and M’Vila) under the continuous pressure to impress due to the absence of a guaranteed spot in the club’s future. M’Vila’s outburst in the Roma game comes to mind as a reminder of that, and no it was not an injury related incident as Mancini addressed that in the presser saying everyone should expect to be replaced. That, along with the fact no follow up was made for further medical examinations.

We are the only team in Serie A to feature four youngsters in the starting lineup in all rounds (13th straight week) with the mistaken belief that these undeveloped kids can carry a team that lacks tactical cohesion into the greatest football competition. All while neglecting the thirst of our seasoned opponents. A redundant claim that has created false convictions in players like Kovacic (the CL clause in his future contract) and Icardi that they are good enough to walk into the first 11 of any big European team.

I’m not saying that our opponents can easily snatch that third place, this season’s standings so far have shown the opposite, nor am I overrating their squads due to good form or big purchases. My conviction, just as I stated above, is that we lack certain foundations for Kovacic and the boys to reach their untapped potential. Whether it’s an array of drill options or quality additions in certain positions.

This squad is more than capable of challenging for top 3.

You're just focusing on the weaknesses in our squad and focusing on the strengths of the other teams in Serie A. Fiorentina, Udinese, Genoa, Sassuolo are just some of the teams ahead of us that have weakre squads on paper.

In terms of market value of players, Inter is third in the league. On paper we have more than enough to compete for a top 3 spot, it just hasn't been clicking. Which is why Mancio was brought in. You guys have to realize that we don't need a world beater squad like we had at the turn of the decade to be a top 3 team. We have more than enough quality players right now.

On paper, only Juventus and Roma have a clearly better squad than us, we are on par with Napoli when you take into account squad depth. Every other team is weaker than us on paper, including Milan.

I'm glad Mancini has hired a defender - hopefully sylvinho can give some advice to Dodo and others about the full back position. Not gonna pretend I have a clue about his abilities as a coach though.

This is not a top3 worthy team until they start winning games and i shall not call them capable until they do. They have a better coach now, so no excuses anymore.
