One of his sons (that tall one on the picture) looks just like him, tall and elegance.

I noticed this too. I was a bit stunned by how much alike they were.

Not sure about retiring numbers. The question we have to ask ourselves is would Fachetti have wanted us to retire his shirt number??

I am not sure but Nico would give up the shirt. He is very gratefull what Inter did for him when his daughter was sick so he would easily give up the shirt.

INTER WITHDRAW THE NUMBER 3 SHIRT
Friday, 08 September 2006 11:42:58

MILAN - F.C. Internazionale has been granted permission from the Italian Football League and UEFA (for the 2006/07 Champions League) to withdraw the club's number 3 shirt, worn 634 times by Giacinto Facchetti. From Friday 8 September 2006, Argentine defender Nicolas Burdisso will wear the number 16 shirt. "I am proud to be the last Inter player to wear the number 3 shirt," Burdisso said. "I am honoured to change number today as a mark of respect for and in memory of Giacinto Facchetti, a man and not just a president, who was very close to me when I went through a difficult time with my family."

Beautiful. Way to tribute him.

Sempre con noi, Gia.

I'm against retiring numbers, because in 100 years, there won't be any numbers left, basically. Also, there will be greater players representing the club too.

No disrespect to Facchetti intended. I just don't believe in retiring numbers.

I also don't agree with retiring numbers but in Giacinto case I believe we should make an exception. He wasn't just a great player he was also a great administrator for the club.

Retiring numbers are always for exceptions. If another Meazza or Facchetti sprouts out at Inter, I'd be very surprised.
Milan has done it with the number 6, Baresi, and will do it with Maldini's 3 as well. Facchetti was more of an idol for Inter and Italy than both of them. Facchetti was Italy's flag, whereas Maldini is a great, loyal player. Greatness doesn't mean that a player deserves a retired number on his honour. It's the players that 'carry the flag' that deserve that honour, and Facchetti is one of them. One of the few...

Sorry a little bit late.

It's never late to show respect for a legend, mate, so don't worry about that...

P.S. I'm ManU fan too...

As long as no other shirt will be retired, it's ok. But I'd rather have a place named after him, like "Fachetti's Curva Nord" or sumthin

Very sad. I'm shocked that he has passed away. He will surely be missed. I think retiring the number 3 in his honor is the least the club can do for a wonderful man who did so much. Interista through and through.
