Carvalho ain't a random player, so is the case with Deco; even though they ain't young. Carvalho would play a great role in our defence department, if he joins.

If we can't sign the likes of Vidic (we can't !), then Carvalho would be a great addition. As I said it earlier as well, I would welcome him with open arms.:D

Fcinternews.it reports that Chelsea wants €10mm for him and Inter are only prepared to pay between €7-8mm.

The report says that the deal will be probably completed next week as everyone seems fine with (Inter, Chelsea and the player). It's just a matter of defining the fee and determining the type of the transfer (loan with an option to buy at the end of the season or a outright purchase).

I will support this transfer, if only we sell at least one of our central defenders that are considered first team. Burdisso and Rivas obviously have to go, but since we have extended the contract of Materazzi, I feel that one other has to leave as well. That player is Chivu unless, we're planning to make him a left back on a permanent basis.

Having: Cordoba, Samuel, Carvalho, Chivu and Materazzi seems a bit of a luxury. Although, considering the injuries for many of these players, it might be sufficed.

It's just too bad we pick Carvalho up now, and not when he was maybe the best defender in the world.

That is true. I consider Chivu LB for next season if no one is sold out of those four and Inter get Carvalho. Materazzi and Cordoba as the oldest ones are backups for the starting duo Samuel-Carvalho.

SE SALTELLI....
chivu is crap when he plays at LB...with our formation its essential that we get support from our wing-backs when attacking...this is one thing chivu is really bad at...he reads the game really well when playing in the middle...but really lacks pace and dribbling ability going forward when playing on the flank...lets hope he stays in the centre and we get rid of rivas..

Santon should be our LB and Chivu a CB. In case Santon is not available we can use Chivu as LB in some games.

Materazzi won't play any bigger role than this season. So it's basically four CBs with Chivu as an alternative LB. Chivu won't go anywhere.

I can't understand how it is "four CBs". How stupid it is to extend with a veteran, if that vet is going to sit on the stands for the most of the season? Carvalho-Samuel starting, Cordoba-Chivu in the bench. It's unnecessary luxury what Jimmy talked about.

I don't know, but I do know that the renewal of Materazzi won't mean we'll sell Cordoba, Samuel or Chivu.

It might have something to do with the UEFA quota or him being a bandiera. And, he is a special type of CB, so he offers an option.

It was renewed under reduced wages. Don't see the problem if some like matrix wants to end his career at inter. Yes he is a luxury but a very good one to have. He likes Inter and was prepared to accept lower wages to stay.

I think Chivu in a 4-3-1-2 formation can't execute the role of left back because it consists of him going forward a lot and creating opportunities from the flank. I think in a 4-3-3 Chivu could be good as left back as we saw on other occasions because he would not need to go forward a lot. So where we play Chivu imo is a matter of how we play.

In addition to formation, it also depends on who we are playing. If the other team have awesome wingers and we are on the defensive ends, Chivu would be great at LB. If we are going out all attack, we need someone more offensive.

I just want Carvalho to join us quick and conclude our transfers for back line.

chivu as a LB is a disaster...he always stay in the penalty area and free opponent to delivery.
santon is much much better than him in LB
we'd better sell chivu if carvalho join us but I don't think any club can afford him if any club has interest in him

Well it's not like our players don't have any CL experience. Some of our players probably played more CL games than Carvalho.

The only difference is that he won and our players lost. :D

Fck that, Chivu stays, if he stays fit he and Samuel are best defenders Inter have..

Burdisso or Rivas can be sold, one of them.

A good signing, can't say the same about Deco, if true.
