His injury was a blessing in disguise, not only did we managed to find an alternative formation that introduces more fluidity in our play, we have also managed to relaunch Joao Mario.

Rafinha probably can’t beat that.

Great acquisition, Ausilio is a prophet.

He needs special socks, as the one he gets get torn in minues, his calfs are massive.

The socks don't get torn. The holes are cut to alleviate pain caused by tension over time. It's there to reduce the probability of getting cramps towards the end of the game.

I was wondering how many players do that. Thanks for the info.

He's improved so much technically compared to the player he was 5 years ago - he plays smart as well.

Spalletti on Nainggolan:

Radja Nainggolan has been sidelined with an ankle injury and missed the first match, but he could return tomorrow.

“He has to be evaluated well. We’ll get a further answer in training, and he could even play a deeper midfield role, which is where he started out.

“When we switched his position with [Miralem] Pjanic at Roma there was pandemonium. There were some poison pens ready, but then a lot of sentences had to be deleted.

“He started off in a deeper role though, he’s not a trequartista who beats three men. He shows his quality with ‘bursts’, and it’s with desire and strength that he beats you.

“He stops you building play comfortably.”

I hope he plays as AM, and not deeper. He is so fucking effective upfront not only for the intensity during attacks but also as the first line of defence. As an AM, he can apply off the ball pressure on Busquets & Rakitic to stop them from building attacks. That is something we sorely missed at Camp Nou, and it allowed the Barca midfield to steamroll ours with ease.

meh.....hope he and vecino play as CMs and he doesn't play AM. For whatever reason, once we play an "AM", it always ends up looking like 4-4-2 in defense; the AM pushes too high and leaves too big a gap between the front line and midfield.

Playing him Am is ok only if Vecino understands we need 9golan more than him in attack.

I hope it's just the injury effect, hope he gets better soon.

Worst performance for him since the start of the season though, I hope I wont have to see that again.

ATM Radja can only play further back next to Brozo. Said in another thread but if we can't play Joao in CL than 442 with Martinez is IMO our only option.

He was injured, it usually takes 3 weeks to fully heal and he came back after less than 2. Let's not crucify the man. I don't want to imagine how the game would look if he didn't start. D'Ambrosio on the left with Asamoah in the middle or Valero starting...

:palm:

FiF fans. Clearly he was not fully recovered. Spallo had 2 choices. Borja then sub in 9g or vice-versa. And no, don't tell me about keita or fucking lautaro in a AM role or playing 2 forwards.
