I know i wasnt even close to being born. but u know when u become an inter fan and u look at their history, some people catch your eye. Well Nyers has always been that man for me

in 1949 Nyers was italian league top scorer with 26 goals, playing for inter.

1953-54 - 8

I remember i use to have this reall old picture/poster of him in my room. it wasnt very big, it was A4 and black an white, but still :depress:

He was very sick for the last couple of months... he could barely talk. I had the pleasure to know him, he was a very nice person and he was an interista all the time... he gave an interview to a newspaper here (the city where he lived) about a 6 months ago and he said that he still follows inter! I'll post some details after I talk to his wife...

it was said he lived in poverty in his last years while he was ill, is this true?

Well.. not really... while he could, he went everywhere with a taxi ( and everything is near here)... A couple of years ago he used to travel to italy ( i think he had a house or something there) regulary.... and he drove to the airport with a taxi ( thats around 200km distance).. but sure, he had a lot better life while he lived in italy. He came here to Serbia in the 80's if I remember correctly, because his wife was born here, and she had cancer and wanted to die here. Later on he remained here, and I think it was only last year that he married his second wife. He used to come every day in the summer to a caffee where I usually hang around

I know it's an old thread, but maybe you guys are interested. As I wrote many years ago, Nyers lived since the 80's and died in my hometown (Subotica, Serbia), he is also burried here. I found out lately that Inter payed for his burrial services and they also made a small memorial by his tomb in the cemmentery. It's a little morbid I know, but if you want to see it I can post a picture of it. I'm planning to take some flowers next time to the tomb of our legend.

Yep, no 7. On the all time scoring list, no 1 amongst non italians... Played from 48 to 54 for inter... Check his stats on inter.it or wiki... He was one of our greats... Shame that people don't know him
