Very good performance, regardless of the final score.
The team played well for an hour (we lasted 15 minutes more than against juve), attacking PSG with a lot of men and generally showing personality against a higher-rated opponent. We managed to create a fair number of chances and would have deserved to take the lead. However, you can't afford being so wasteful against opponents of such quality, otherwise you get punished at the first (half) chance. Their goal was the result of a misscomunication between D'Ambrosio and Skriniar. Anyway, let's learn our lesson and move on. I was impressed by Brozovic's performace during the first half: he dictated the tempo with his usual mastery and, on top of that, set the forwards three times in front of goal with pin-point through balls. Sensi and Barella complemented him rather well, even though I'd suggest the former to not go for an unnecessary dribbling when there's an easy passing lane available. The turnovers that result from his mistakes could cost us dearly some day. As I wrote a few days ago, the roster must be completed as quickly as possible so that Conte can start working with the players he needs to implement his tactical vision. All in all, what we've seen so far is already very promising, though. Keep it up, lads.
Lastly, a few more random thoughts.
- Candreva's Panenka penalty is yet another proof (if there ever was any need) of the fact that he (and a few other players like Dalbert) must always be kept on short leash lest they relapse to their moronic nature.
- When Esposito is on the field, he should be given the chance to take all the freekicks from the edge. We had two today, and they were taken very poorly by Perisic and Sensi. I don't care if he's just a kid. He's the best freekick taker we have. Let him have a go at them.
- Why is Agoumé being given so little playing time? He's usually subbed in at the 90th minute, and as a LWB on top of that. Does Conte not like him? I don't know...
- Goals scored by Longo in the International Super Cup: 1 / Goals scored by Mbappé in the ISC: 0. Suck it up, Kylian!
