Don't have one.
The point is the current squad and which formation and tactic fits to it. Conte goes other way around and that's pretty fucking expensive route. 4-3-1-2 fits to current squad better than 3-5-2. Also different things are required from central midfielders on those formations.

Who would you play at fullback in the four man defense. You have much more defensive responsibilities as fullback and I don't trust any of those fuckers to play it properly, not even hakimi. All of our players playing on the side are more suited in a three man defence, and numbers this year from the amount of assists and goals scored prove it.

I know three man defence is a different system and it suits better players in terms of involvement in attack but if you take those positions, you take large part of why we had a great season this year, and for what, to pigeonholed skriniar and eriksen into formation..It's a no from me man, unless we buy two proven fullbacks...

But i dont think that would be a problem with allegri, he can play almost any formation, including with three at the back.

I understand your reservations about Hakimi but I believe he could play in a back 4 IF we have a defensive lb who would turn into 3rd cb when Hakimi is in attack and a dynamic rcm who would cover for Hakimi. Cancelo isn't a better defender than Hakimi and we managed to make back 4 work with him so I'm optimistic.

You guys are just wasting your breath. We ain't looking for shit unless Conte will tell Zhang senior "fuck off" directly to his face.

With issues that Conte has (like any other coach), we still managed to do progress and are gaining on jube fast. You don't fuck with that unless it starts going the other direction.

the important thing in those roles is balance. We played Maicon-Pandev for balance, and Eto'o-Chivu/Zanetti.

If Hakimi goes on the attack, we either need a DM or RW who drops back a bit to provide some cover. That's perfectly fine.

This might be where Bastoni as the LB could be interesting - he comes in a little more, Skriniar goes right a little more, and we play with 3 at the back for attacking with 3 true CBs.

It's not about having objections - it's about having a set formation that you consider is the best possible approach, which makes you no different than Conte you vilify for the same reasons (among many others).

I am one of the few 3-5-2 fans here actually

Not worried about the squad. The most realistic option we have if - and it's a BIG IF - Conte leaves, is Allegri. And Allegri is quite flexible. Unless we have a coach hellbent on playing with wingers, we are well suited for coming season.

Not considering any new signings, Hakimi, D'Ambrosio, Biraghi, Young, Asamoah, Bastoni, are all good enough for our FB positions based on whom we're facing.

Even for a 433/4231, we just need 1-2 signings for the wing. But that's about it. We can manage the rest with Sanchez, Eriksen, Lukaku, Perisic/Candreva, again depending on specific roles and opponents.

For the first time in a decade, even more actually, we have a decent squad with a lot of quality in most areas.
Bastoni, De Vrij, Skriniar, Hakimi, Barella, Sensi, Eriksen, Lautaro, Lukaku. That's a strong core any manager can build a team around for years to come.

Even during the treble season, we didn't have that. In fact, our squad vastly overachieved then.

I think Allegri would be a better option for us because that would mean we could play again with 4 at the back and keep Skriniar.

After today and the last 10 years I'm honestly okay with taking some wildcard assistant manager for 500k

problem is for a 4-2-3-1 you cant play lukaku-martinez together, and sanchez is basically useless as 3rd choice striker in a 1 striker formation

4-2-3-1 would be my preference too, but it doesnt work with the squad we have atm IMHO. We nede to focus on playing both lukaku martinez, which means something like a 4-4-2, 4-3-1-2 realistically.

I don't understand the argument about us not being able to play the 4 back formation because of us signing Hakimi? We could have a more defensive one on the LB to make it work like we've done in the past and even if Hakimi is shite in defense he can't be worse than Candreva/Moses.

It's going to be Allegri. There's no manager under contract who we're going to be able to get with such a short turnaround, and the group of managers who are available is myopic.

I'm worried we'd pull some 5head move for Sarri, as unrealistic as it is I just can't put it past us.

I must be the only person on this forum who doesn't want Allegri

I'm sure there are some who would want to push for Pocchetino, or hope we persuade Atletico for Simeone. Allegri is just the most realistic option.

Why you all ruling out Pochetino? He is a viable option, isn’t he?

I wouldn’t want Conte to leave. This was his first year with us and the team has clearly improved. I’m sick coach changes every summer. I want to build on what we have but if Conte were to leave I’d take Allegri.
