Paulo Dybala

Imagine you`re in Ausilio/Marotta`s shoes, would you offer Dybala a contract?

  • Yes - unlock defences and add value: creativity, individual brilliance, attacking outside the box

  • No - serious doubts about his fitness and contribution when it matters the most

I'm sorry guys, if Dybala comes we changing formation. No way Dybala comes to be a sub.
Also Hakan/Correa/Dzeko/Alexis. We have 7 players for 3 roles.

No clubs will sign Dybala as a sub, but at the same time, no clubs at our level or above will guarantee him anything. He will have to fight for the starting spot, if he's good enough he will start, otherwise, he will have to get used to the bench.

Players whose stocks have been falling like him are simple not in position to demand anything. Same to Lukaku, if Dybala comes, Lukaku will also have to fight for the spot.

In my view, Dybala is forward, not AM. As far as remember in Palermo the job of AM was done by Vasquez, and Dybala was playing higher than him. If we use 3-4-1-2 with Hakan or Mkhiky as AM, I'm fine as bot of them are hard working players, but Dybala, Lautaro and Lukaku just won't work well imo.

But that trio can be great when we are chasing results against bologna, sassuolo or genoa scumbags.

Yeah, that's the limit, though. You can't expect to beat a team over the course of 90 minutes with that lineup.

I'm generally opposed to Mancini-like tactics of throwing every forward on the pitch when you're trailing. Maintaining shape is important. It would be more meaningful to take off a CB (and ditch the 3-5-2) when chasing a goal than it would to switch to some 3-4-1-2.

I can se 3 4 1 2 work against bottom and midtable teams but then our midfield duo must give 100% first half and then be subbed for another midfield duo who also needs to run their asses for second half. Wingbacks also must be really defensive strong. It could work. We need to get rid of Gags, give some youth a chance. Against stronger teams its 3 5 2. Hope Dybala comes.

It's not like dybala is a 0 defending, 3412 can work we just would need Dybala to be disciplined and tuck in. He probably wouldn't be able to last the entire game. But we have a few players that can sub In for him

Yea for sure, we have Hakan and Mikhi who can fit great there.

3412 will be a disaster. No top club plays that way. No decent club in 2022 can play with a no. 10 behind 2 forwards.
maybe we won't adapt 3 CB anymore (Skriniar departure, lack of CBs available)

I wouldn't be surprised we do a bit like that but basically drop Brozovic to "defender" position as he's usually all over the pitch anyway. The numbers aren't too important when Inter is chasing because we know how the game looks like in those cases. Even if we have 3 CBs on the pitch, we push at least one of them very high.

Anyway, 3-4-1-2 will definitely not work in a long run as some kind of defined formation. Can't afford to have 2 non-pressing players on the pitch (Lukaku-Dybala). That's why Lukaku-Dybala striking duo doesn't sound like a good idea in general. In some cases it's probably more than good enough but not in general.

Bastoni is a proven LB and CB. de Vrij hasn't played in a back four since, what, 2014?
