Anyway, Palermo are a good home team. Their defence is pretty solid, especially aerially, and they have one of the best performed players of the last two seasons in Vazquez. If we can manage to shut him down they're a fairly ordinary side. Maybe Mancini will get Medel or Melo to follow him around the pitch. Probably wouldn't be a bad move.

Personally I would like to see Mancini give Ljajic a go next to Jovetic in this game. Partly because Palermo's defenders tend to struggle against tricky players, and partly because Icardi needs a wake up call. Although, as captain that's probably unlikely.

Definitely something to consider Shauny. The match thread openings have been poor this season.

What's happened to the Verathia type openings ? Even the bare minimum, neat Coasterfreak ones ?? Or the once in a blue moon genius openings Uni has done ???

I bet if there was a FIF Oscar for best match thread openings, some members would be climbing over each other to open with a high quality match thread... Is there one ??

Hey guys, there should be a thread where everybody gets to pick one game to make a thread about. More fair than rushing to get a thread done without the proper intro and all thst.

This way everybody gets a piece of the action and they can prepare the best intro they can. Its not like we need a new thread 3 seconds after the game ends.

It's fair to give people to prepare before hand, make a cool intro and that they don't just open the thread for the sake of opening it first.

But I guess this forum wants to stagnate, bitch and moan when Match Threads get opened (unless Verathia does it).

some 14 year old will act all youtube here opening the thread "FIRST!!!!!!!!!" and then editing in paint later.

rules should be, if you open a match thread it should be non editable and full of info and graphics, if not delete and a weekly ban. no need to rush right after the final whistle to open a thread for a game that is about to happen in 7 days like a little school girl.

No way Mancini will bench Icardi, he said after the Juve match he's expecting him to score in the next few games. I would love if either Ljajic or Manaj started next game, obviously prefer Ljajic but it appears he's on a time out from Mancini for the simple fact his feet can keep up with his brain (unlike Guarin).
Manaj has that cockiness (basically a douche) about him that would probably help him perform at such a young age, give him some outings I say.

I've never really seen Icardi as a confidence player. Well certainly not as much as most strikers. He seems just as likely to score when he is playing badly as he is when he isn't. Plus, he tends to score typically on his first or second touch in an instinctive manner, it wouldn't seem like he does much thinking or stressing about other things.

Anyway, I personally want to see Ljajic because I'm curious to see him and Jovetic together again. Plus, surely Ljajic's confidence matters too? He did just do very well while on international duty.

Agreed Stefan. I'm sure Telles would be capable of dealing with Rispoli who is their less offensive wingback. Lazaar on the other side is a pretty tricky player.
