Playing next to Icardi is easy. Get a work-horse who creates space for him. Play with wingers and you have to make crosses and nothing else.

Osvaldo to come out of retirement

Former Fiorentina, Roma and Bologna striker Dani Osvaldo could be coming out of retirement to play for Banfield in Argentina.

Osvaldo retired in 2016 after playing three games with Boca Juniors, saying he had become disillusioned with football.

He formed a rock group, called Barrio Viejo, and appeared on the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars, finishing in third place.

Now Argentine newspaper Ole report that the former striker could be making a return, with Superliga side Banfield offering a six-month contract.

Osvaldo scored 41 goals in Serie A for five different clubs during his career, most notably at Roma, where he scored 27 times in 55 games for the Giallorossi.

The former Italy international will be 34 years old in January.

Banfield finished 16th from the 24-team Argentine first division. Ex-Inter, Lazio and Parma striker Hernan Crespo had been their coach, but was sacked in September.

Only 34 yet!

Maybe he can be vice-Lukaku.

I'm sure Wanda would love that.

Then people complain why we talk about Icardi everyday and everywhere.

I myself am enjoying it. Maurito per sempre!!!

Official: Osvaldo back in football

Former Italy striker Dani Osvaldo has officially come out of retirement to sign for Argentine side Banfield.

Banfield announced last night that Osvaldo had put pen to paper on a contract until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old retired from professional football in 2016 to focus on music and later appeared on the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars.

Although born in Argentina, he spent the majority of his playing career in Italy with Lecce, Fiorentina, Roma, Juventus and Inter.

He also scored four goals in 14 caps for the Azzurri.

Osvaldo joins a side who are currently 16th in the Argentine top flight and were coached by Serie A icon Hernan Crespo until September.

unstable emotionally
Former Serie A and Italy striker Daniel Osvaldo opened up about his battle with ‘depression and addictions’ in a heart-touching video published on Instagram.

Osvaldo, a former Serie A striker for Atalanta, Fiorentina, Inter, Bologna, Roma and Juventus, among others, posted an emotional Instagram video on Thursday afternoon revealing his battle with depression and addictions.

The 38-year-old struggled to fight back the tears revealing his struggles and admitting that he is “not doing well at all.”
“I have to make some confessions about my life,” the former Serie A and Italy striker said in Spanish.

“It’s hard for me, but I think the moment has come because I am not doing well at all. I feel the need to say that I’ve been battling with depression, which has brought to some addictions, alcohol and drugs. I feel life is slipping away from my hands.

“I am doing treatment, but many times I have relapses. I fall into self-destruction, and I live alone, locked at home. I don’t care about getting up from bed, leaving my room, and eating. I’ve had terrible addictions that have only worsened my depression and have made me suffer, not giving me the desire to share things with my family and my kids. I am saying this not to play the victim but to make everyone understand the reason for my bad decisions.

“I was a top player in the past, I was a very different person, proud and with self-confidence. This is a person I don’t recognise. It costs me to open up and leave the reality that I’ve built inside my head. It’s hard to separate what’s real from what’s not real. I don’t go out alone, I don’t want to leave. I want to be the person I used to be. I don’t know how to leave this home, I don’t have a stable work, I’ve spent all my money.

“I’ve always been a good friend, a good teammate and I hoped I’d be a good father. I say sorry to my friends and my family, to my kids and Daniela. I have to make sure I don’t fall back into addiction, and I hope that now that everyone knows what I’m going through, they’ll help me. All I ask is to go back to my old self, and nothing more.”
Osvaldo has now deactivated comments from his Instagram post, but according to VoceGiallorossa, Roma midfielder Paredes had previously encouraged the ex-striker by writing: “Come on, dear Dani! Stay strong, and all will go well!”
Hope he gets out of this mental state, alcohol is a horrible drug to be hooked on.

The thought I had after reading DARiO's post was that I hope he does not take his life.

Me2, but then I realised he's a Latino Lover, so drama is part of the daily life.

Stay strong Dani!

He should speak to his former clubs and see if they can accommodate him with some work. Even if it is as a scout or a coach of a junior team.

Maybe working for a small wage would not be much fun for him but at least it might give him some purpose and help him get our of the house.
