The last 10-15 minutes was awful by Boca. They didn't do a single thing right for a team that try to get an equalizer. You would expect more drive and urgency in such situation.

Icardi punched in the face for a clear penalty as far as I can see but Fenerbahče with Ćeko as their leader are crying all over the media acting like a victim. So is Fener actually Juventus of Turkey?

I wasn't checking news these days so in a moment of boredom between feasts :D i opened Twitter and saw Terim name on Greek trends. I was like did the guy die or get arrested or something? And then i saw he replaced Jovanovic. Wtf! I didn't even know Ivan was at risk.

Neither did he...

At first I was asking friends if Turks have a late December lying date like the Spaniards

@Conan the Barbarian

Give me all the juice.

Last stint at Galatasaray.

I saw he lost the title with equal points, then the next year there was collapse. Now, without him, they're challenging again.

So what was going on?

We have a crucial month now. The season may be defined in a 15 day span where we play Olympiakos home and away for the cup, we play AEK away, PAOK at home and Olympiakos at home.

All played without fans (in football) because the Olympiakos fans killed a cop (in a volleyball match) and bizarrely fans can attend volleyball, basketball and other sporting events, but not football.

We had November with all away games, probably the first time ever a team had tondo that, so I missed out even if I traveled at the away games.

Anyhow, the team was performing well but results weren't coming and we conceded a bunch of flukes. Players don't seem pleased with the change of coach - mostly because they liked Ivan - so not sure how a new guy coming in the middle of the season will be beneficial or in what state of mind he'll be.

Main reason Jovanovic was sacked was because he clashed with the owner for:
a) being forced to play a crucial game with 15 covid cases, which cost us the league
b) clash over transfer policy. Coach didn't want to spend much and took a long while to decide on new players and management got agitated by that because the fans were being very militant over the lack of reinforcements.

Truth be told, most of this season's signings didn't pan out and they were quite costly. Team still had glaring gaps and they didn't get any "leaders" in the team, so mentally wise there were some collapses that wouldn't be the case if collectively the entire team had a different attitude.
We need like a change of 10 players for the better, and it's quite soon because a lot of then arrived last season.

P.S. I've been hearing murmurs since summer that PAOK will win the league because that's who they decided upon, just like last season was decided that AEK would win and how Olympiakos decided upon themselves to impose themselves as champions since 1996 every season and whine corruption everytime they cannot cheat their way onto the crown...

It's true that in Greece these aren't decided on the pitch, but with VAR getting in the way and some foreign refs that aren't corrupt (some are) in crucial 6 pointers, it becomes harder to fix standings. But we've trumped Hollywood, Cannes film festival, Netflix, HBO and any other drama/action/comedy movie creator out there. You wouldn't believed how Greek football has been moving since the 90s. Could have been at Portugal/Netherlands levels but some people prefer to steal someone else's food rather than grow more food for all..

We have a saying.
There were two neighbors and one of them cried to god that he was jealous of his neighbor because he had a goat and he was so happy.
God appears to him after all this time and asks him what his wish is. Do you want land, sheep, a goat?
And the villager responds:
I want my neighbor's goat to die...

Sums up modern Greek culture.

Fatih Terim represents everything I hate about my own society.

fake patriotism

feeding on chaos

the ability to assume the role of victim even in something for which one is guilty

middle eastern hypocrisy

The man is the football coach version of Tayyip Erdoğan.
Imagine ! Terim's best friend is a politician named Mehmet Ağar, who is the number 1 asshole of the criminal Turkish deep state.

''Tell me your friend and I will tell you who you are !''

If someone had scripted the scandals Terim was involved in throughout his life, a 10-season Netflix series would emerge.

But... the entertainment world loves complex men like Terim. We all know that good guys are boring as hell.

The Greeks will love Terim (just like the Italians love him) because the man is too smart to not show his dark side to outsiders.

Yeah, I should watch the Roma vs Juve match, but after yesterday's disappointment it will probably just piss me off.
