I personally don't even think that a 3rd keeper is needed. Does Juventus even have a 3rd keeper? For all these years, I've only heard Buffon & Chimenti playing for them. Only because of a bad injury to Buffon that they get Abbiati.Jimmy said:Who is saying Carini should be the third keeper? It's obvious that he was definitely not a player for that role. He's way too good.
All I'm saying is that a third keeper like Orlandoni won't play a single match, unless something extremely bizarre happens. Look at Milan. How many matches has Fiori played during all these years?
That's why I prefer a Primavera keeper as the third keeper. That means he stays with the Primavera team and play week in and week out, and if something bizarre happens, he'll get his chance. And the good thing about this, is that Bindi in this case would be match-fit. Orlandoni on the other hand won't be match-fit at all, because he hasn't played a game for months.
And please don't give me the argument: "What if Toldo and Julio Cesar are injured when we will play a CL final?"
I mean, come on.
Just wanna point out that Juve were lucky because Buffon's injury happened when the transfer window is opened.primo-inter said:Don't you guys get it? 3rd choice keeper never plays! Juve had 2nd and 3rd choice keepers before Buffon got injured.. but what did they do? They got a new one anyway!
Jimmy said:Then again, Chimenti is not Toldo or we have had any injuries on that department. Had Toldo or Julio Cesar been long-term injured, then fine. I would have accepted the transfer.
But if our first keeper is injured, we don't need to sign a new first keeper, which was what Juve did. They didn't sign a backup for Chimenti. They signed a replacement for Buffon. So we can't compare Inter and Juve on this issue.
We have to look at Milan to look at the similarities. Dida and Abbiati. Two keepers who neither should be benched. Toldo and Julio Cesar. Once again, two keepers who shouldn't be benched. And then a 30+ keeper that is the third keeper. We are yet to see if Orlandoni will even play a single minute, but looking at Milan and their Fiori, he won't. And thus, making this an idiotic transfer from first of all a financial point of view. Even if he has ridiculous wage (which I doubt, because this is Inter), it is still money that goes to nothing. And second of all, this will mean lack of valuable experience for Bindi who might get called up for some matches and be on the bench. Now, he won't be that.
The only positive thing is that we have at least signed the best choice for a 30+ third keeper. An Inter fan who knows his role.
