I voted for a new stadium only because of the pitch. If we can work out some way to keep the pitch in tip top condition the whole season (there is an issue with sunlight in the winter months) then I would keep the San Siro with some major modernisations and upgrade work.

I don't buy into this hoo ha about having the fans close to the pitch, etc. which seems to be part of the hype of the English League (to compensate for the fact they have tiny stadiums and prawn-sandwich eating middle class crowds who don't know the first thing about football).

Bayern Munichs new stadium is a beauty, Though the San Siro is a classic.

New stadium? Do we need one? We were discussing about this, so I decided to open new thread.

We have Meazza, it's big, but old and not so attractive. In the end, it's shared with Milan. Do you like to see Inter play on new stadium, his own stadium? I would, but who will give the money for it?

Just after reading the first post of this thread

1. San-siro is big and its great. No people except season holders would go to derby and other games if san-siro was smaller

2.Old and not attractive??? Have u seen it, its beautiful man.no matter where u sit, you can see game decently

3.yeah **** milan, but it adds something to the derby atmosphere

Just read Moratti's latest statements regarding San Siro and you can tell he has no idea of what is going on. This is Milan's project.

It is actually amazing. We have had no information at all at Inter.it while acmilan.com publishes news about the situation all the time. For example now today it will be decided whether Meazza will be open to all already tomorrow.

It costs money to run a 86,000 stadium. And how often do we fill it? I figure we rarely fill it more than a maximum of five times (in a season where we reach far in CL). If we don't play CL semis or quarters, then we only fill 86k vs Milan and possibly some other teams, however, without juBe I seriously doubt that we will fill it vs others.

A 70,000 stadium would be cheaper to run and obviously a full 70k stadium is better than 70k in a 86k one. Also, I'm sure the players would feel better if they saw 16k lesser empty seats. In Serie A, there's normally 40-50k on Inter's matches and I believe the guys prefer 20k empty seats rather than 35-36k.

But the main gain Inter would get is that the pitch would be much better. I was at Meazza on a tour just last weekend and they told that the grass had to be removed eight times during the course of a season. This obviously has something to do with two teams playing there, but also because the pitch isn't allowed to "breath" between the battles. Also, the sun doesn't reach the grass enough due to the roof at Meazza.

A new stadium would be good, given that the design is smart so that the grass gets sun. 70k is enough, as we rarely fill the stadium more than on a handful occasions every season.

Barely. Another advantage with 70k is that we will fill more often.

Bah, look what I just read on inter.it:

In light of the government's decision to reduce the capcity of the Stadio Meazza to 67,500, F.C. Internazionale advises fans intending to watch the match to keep their tickets.

http://www.inter.it/aas/news/reader?N=25661&L=en

67 500?? I thought we had an all-clear? :frustrat:
