well the best solution now is to go for Matrix - Cordoba then give Burdisso a glimpse every now and then by subsituting Matrix . then we shall see , i know that it will difficult for Burdisso to play in italy so early but guys have you seen kaka ??? the guy was 22 years old and he made wonders though he was put into pressure ...from what i've seen out of Burdisso , i think he can the new' Samuel' . right from the start though it will be some kinda of a Risk . then if we didn't get any new defender , we shall leave it for January .

Let´s come up with a list of potential defenders that could join in a quick matter. I have to try and realise that we will go for Cordoba - Materazzi/Mihajlovic as starters. That leaves us with only four defenders right now, since I don´t believe that Sorondo will stay. He would have been called up for the last friendlies if that was the case.

So...

Daniele Bonera - I´ve said what I need to say about him already. His price-tag is also quite expensive.

Carlos Gamarra - I would be really glad to see him return, but I would have no idea of why he would want it.

Roberto Ayala - I highly doubt he is on the market.

Jorge Andrade - Interesting thought. Could actually be a starter.

Kolo Touré - Not on the market, but would have been awesome. Should be next seasons priority to get.

Mark Iuliano - A potential player to be a part of the Cannavaro deal. Would be okayish. Better than Miha.


I am still dwelling over the fact that we didn´t plan to use Cannavaro but didn´t bothered to do everything in order to sign Ricardo Carvalho.

Chivu would be the perfect replacement for canna. I know it is highly unlikely that we can get him but it's worth a try. This management have no plan. I can accept selling canna but why so late when all the defenders that was available are gone?? Burdisso is ready to step in like what samuel did in his 1st season at roma but we need better defenders than miha as backups.

I don't want bonera at all. He is too overrated and I couldn't careless if he is italian or from mars he isn't good enough for inter. :stuckup:

Per Kroldrup wouldn´t be a bad squad player either. But the problem is with Udinese and the way they deal with transfers. They keep pushing up the price and in the end, nothing happens.

I can confirm that Krøldrup is a good player. Only reason he is not a starter for Danish NT is because the coach is blind.

Out of the mentioned players so far I think Dellas, Gamarra and Iuliano are the most realistic options.

Dellas is made for a back three or a four-men defence that plays pure man-to-man defence. In that formula he is remarkably good. In a flat four-men defence, he´s not good at all.

I don´t se Roma selling Chivu whatsoever. Carvalho...

Sorondo: he's good, if we want to compete for an Intertoto spot.

About Materazzi, you might not like him but he's a starter, no doubt about that. Mancini will give a chance to Burdisso and if he does very well he might challenge Matrix, but that's all.

When is the last time Inter let someone go and they resigned him especially after he was already into his 30s? I don't think its ever been done and I seriously don't see it happening with Gamarra.

I was sort of hoping that Iuliano and Carini would be in the deal for Cannavaro but I don't think its gonna happen. Atleast Iuliano would give depth, pushing Burdisso to really have a shot at starting (and I'm sure by the end of the season he will be)

Though I wonder if there are any other South American talents with European passports on the market? I can't think of any? Perhaps Luisao?

Kompany is also out because he is cup-tied.

I would really like Per Kroldrup because he is a good stable defender though Udinese are a hard club to deal with.

We use to own Andrade but I think we sold him off to Depor or to Benfica and then he moved to Depor which really sucks.

If the management had been smarter our backline could have been like this for this season

3 young talents in Caneira, Andrade, and Burdisso, and the main Inter pair of Materazzi and Cordoba. Though I would have also gotten rid of Materazzi and brought in Chivu b4 Roma got him.

Though our defensive lineup compared to the one I just listed is pathetic.

In no way I believe that we have any plans for this. This whole case just doesn't make sense. This Cafe-Matrix and Miha/Burdisso as backups doesn't convince me at all.

It was Juve who should have been the weak at the back next season but now look at them Birindelli/Oddo-Thuram-Cannavaro-Zambrotta and then we have Materazzi or Mihajlovic as a second centerback. Oh god..

This transfer is still a big mystery to me. Why the he** we wanted to sell Cannavaro. It just can't get it.

Caneira - I very much highly doubt it, coz he joined Valencia only recently.

Traianos Dellas - He's one of our option, but isn't Sorondo good enough in this case? even Sorondo performed well in WC2002, then Inter didn't want to keep him...

Krøldrup - Yeah, he seems to be a good defender.

Chivu - I would be happy if we could get him, but I don't think this wud happen.

Boumsong - Another Caneira case, but the rumours are saying that Boumsong has warned Rangers that he would leave the club if they wud sack their current coach. Still, isn't Boumsong cup tied ?

Metzelder - If I am not wrong, he's supposed to be back from injury very soon (or is he already fit now?). We were once seriously rumoured to him, but sadly he got injured. Are we still after him? I had read a rumour that Dortmund's planning to extend his contract till 2009, but it's $$ which matters the most. Man Utd signed RVN right after he was operated, so what abt Inter signing Metzelder??

Della Fiore - Not as starter for sure, but just 5th defender.

Milito - What's going on with this player, still in Spain ??

Vidic was the right man for our defence. 185cm and 83 kg is excelent for a defender. Njemanja Vidic has everything - great vision, leadership, postitioning and excelent man marking. Still he isn't very fast, but he playes with 'brains' mostly. His only problem were injuries. Now he's in Spartak Moskva :depress: They gave to Crvena Zvezda a lot of money so he went there. I hope for two years to see him in Europe maybe in Inter cause he is stil 24-25 years old.

Anyway, Burdisso looks to be injured very badly. He is excepted to be back after one month so now we are left with only 3 CBs
