Justice League is probably going to get delayed. Synder is no longer directing and I shit you not Josh whedon is finishing the film. Before people shit talk Synder reason he quit is because his kid killed them self. Whedon is a weird choice coming from Synder

Whedon was already in talks to direct Batgirl so it's natural that they'd bring up the matter to him once Snyder quit.

Your post about his daughter makes no sense because they scheduled new Justice League reshoots and I doubt anyone would be in the mood to handle such job after a tragedy like that.

Was Snyder's exist inevitable after Justice league? Definitely but he's still an executive producer on the movie and some other DC properties like Man of Steel 2 among others.

Justice League trailer looks awful, and the Wonder Woman one doesn't look much better. DC has officially fallen apart.

Or maybe I'm just over superhero movies.

Tom Hardy playing Venom will be awesome though

I'm 100% with on the Justice League trailer and even the first 2 Wonder Woman trailers but the last Warrior one piqued my interest & honestly I'm hoping this movie starts a new chapter with DC.

I think Warner Brothers made the mistake of establishing a cinematic universe around Man of Steel not because of the movie's divisive result but because they hijacked an ongoing project from its original plan. I recall Russell Crowe talking about 2 sequels at one point but WB pulled the plug when they heard Batman was going to show up in a post credit scene in Man of Steel 2 with the Kryptonite and decided to make the movie around him instead.

It's really making things up as they move along kind of situation and I think I'm hopeful because Wonder Woman is a standalone.

Bill Maher did a great bit on Superhero Movies

It's just a cash grab at this point. They're going to squeeze every last penny until people stop watching them. I couldn't even finish Batman v. Superman on the plane.

I stopped listening to Maher a long time ago and the last time I heard about him was when he gave us that "blame China on the Oscar so white" nonsense and when he snapped debating Piers Morgan.

What he says here is very convenient and ignores some of the massages comic books have today and frankly his take isn't different from the elite mindset that denied the Dark Knight from getting an academy award just because it had guys in costume.

After 20+ years of superhero movies people should stop looking at them as a cash grab or a fad and more like an actual movie genre similar to western, action, horror... etc.

I wish people would react the same and confront the action & comedy genre cash grabs like every other Diehard movie or Adam Sandler's nonsense in the same way they talk about superheroes as if they were the cause of Hollywood and in this case society's downfall.

It's ironic that the guys who share Maher's outlook ignore that Hollywood last year gave us movies like Hacksaw Ridge, Arrival, Queen of Katwe, Fences, Kubo and the Two Strings, Loving, Nice Guys, Edge of Seventeen, A Monster Calls, Manchester by the Sea, My Name Is Doris, and even the "Singing in the Rain remake" he wants in La La Land.

Whether you like them or not, the box office proves that superhero movies are what the people want and consider a family experience more than some of the good movies I listed above.

Superhero movies are no more of a cash grab than making eight fast and furious movies. As the saying goes, build it and they will come.

Heck, the 5th Pirates of the Caribbean is a cash grab and probably going to suck, but I'll still be there watching it

The Fast & Furious franchise didn't come from thin air though especially when you look back at the cultural impact of movies & shows like Taxi, the Dukes of Hazzard.. etc.

If you're going with that broad definition then every product is a cash grab just like the George RR Martin & JK Rowling books & their latest spin-offs.

Now, excuse me while I check if my Saint Seiya EX Gemini Saga Set preorder went through or not. :yao: #BandaiCashGrab

I honestly don't think cinema as a whole is hurting because of the superheroes trend. The quality of the nominees for this year's Academy Award just shows that good movies are still being made.

However, the variety of popcorn entertainment has been greatly reduced, for there are no more stand-alone action flicks like we used to have in the 1990s (Point Break, Speed, The Rock, True Lies), just a bunch of dudes with superpowers. If this is not your thing, you're shit out of luck going to a multiplex.

I also think superhero movies these days try too hard to look self-important without actually having anything relevant to say about serious issues. They're often too on the nose about it, almost as if they're begging you not to dismiss them as the obvious cool-yet-silly entertainment they are supposed to be.

The death of comedy. Movies 5-10 years ago were so much funnier. Will ferrell, adam Sandler, stiller etc are getting too old and theres no real funny actors coming through. Its sad, can't remember the last good comedy i seen.

people really miss out on the fact that kid nerds during 90s and 80s now are fully grown adults with spending power, that is why superhero movies wont stop anytime soon.

Aren't your stereotypical 80s kid a grunge based kid?

I always assumed action movies dominated box offices internationally because explosions and car chases have no language barriers. I have a feeling the Japanese version of Forrest Gump makes less sense than Fast and Furious 8

I mean I don't know how it is in Europe but all cartoons have always been super heroes.

What's different between Punisher and Rambo? Other then 1 has like 30-40 years of back stories.

Problem isn't super hero movies problem is they aren't good and are making to many of them. I blame Marvel.

Marvel formula works for them D list super heroes are becoming 1 billion dollar movies. But their game plan is let's make this worthless hero into a movie where he doesn't grow as a person, finds a power stone to be used in 10 years, fights a shittier version of himself with shitter powers that he just learned about 10 minutes ago. Villain is evil because he is evil. That's all you need to know !

Imagine if fox had that for xmen and I know Xmen are 100x more recognizable then the avengers were at that point. But instead of just seeing what the 5-6 xmen could do during the movie. You had 6 solo films so they could then team up to fight the same robot army we have been fighting for the past 20 years because studios don't want a R rating.

So people blame introducing too many characters. For Batman V superman it's how they did it by fucking email.

Look in 5-10 years when studios realize that video games would be perfect Net flux or HBO shows that will be the only shit you see on tv

you can't possibly say they are shit when they generate BILLIONS and all of them have rating over 7 on imdb. Especially marvel ones.

what do you mean? I dont think liking grunge would stop them from liking comic books?

The Marvel movies are fine. Perfectly fine. Some are slightly better than fine.

Just because it generate money doesn't mean it's good. Do you use that sense of logic while watching Twilight too?

it is very subjective what makes a movie "good". Goodness in some cases is as you perceive it. Some people like watching people love each other and others puke at the very thought of it. That is why for example women over 30 rate rom coms higher than teenage boys. The most ojective criteria of what makes a movie successful is box office, without a doubt.

Objectively the Marvel movies are decent/fine/okay. They have good CG, good casts, and they're well shot. That makes them better than most movies already. Are they by the numbers and predictable? Sure, but they're not "shit". I don't give a shit about the box office because objectively shit movies like Transformers and 50 Shades of Grey make a lot of money, but the Marvel movies are created to be of a certain level of quality, and they're not directed by hacks.

Although I will say I have very little interest in rewatching any of them bar GoTG and Iron Man 1
