Actually there are few cities in China already ysing 5G. South Korea too.

really? ok. well, the big cities in america will come next. europe will come close to last, which isn't necessarily bad, as we will trade 12-18 months of waiting with knowing better how it works.

Well the new iPhones are suppose to be 13% faster 4g then last years models and also better with getting service inside buildings.

Like I don’t really care about 5g. More excited for it as a Internet provider then for cell service. My T-Mobile Internet Speed is almost the same as my comcast home service speed.

I don’t know about in Europe and Asia but Internet providers in the US are the fking devil and it’s a monopoly. Depending on where you live you have 1 option most the time or a 2nd option which is use a service 1/5th as fast for $10 less out of spite which isn’t really an option.

ok, i give up. :pazzini: i didn't make that up, i read it somewhere. but i guess they weren't well informed.

i didn't know about vodafone italia. by the way, if anyone ever needs an italian sim: stay away from them, they have the horrible habit of increasing their prices every few months.

That is what killing the telecom companies In the US

The hidden fees then the doubling of your bill

It’s like 1st 6 months Internet is $50 next 6 months are 80 then 100 then 120!!!

It’s like wtf!!! If that wasn’t bad enough they charge you bullshit fees like a 911 fee or broadcasting fee!! It’s like how is that not part of the actual bill!

Just preordered my iPhone 11s

Going to get 11s because I can get each for $300 for trading in my parents iPhone 7s on T-Mobile :)

Not a great upgrade from the XR but need to make rotate my phones out every 2 years.

Hope by the next phones we have 5g in my town for it to even matter

Good man :) keep buying iPhones

5G is like DC electricity - you need cells every 5 freaking meters for it to work as promised.

Also massive signal losses, even if you're behind a fucking tree... 5G is great but it's a niche thing for the central areas of large cities, it won't be a 100% coverage like 4G is. Plus, who the fuck actually needs that speed... 4G is more than sufficient for everyday use, so even its use cases would be niche.

4G was shitty and spotty when it first deployed. Tech will get better and eventually apps will utilize the greater speeds of 5G to the point where you're going to say how the fuck do people live on 4G, it'll feel like the stone age.

Not there yet, but we will be in a few years.

Eh, physics doesn't give a damn dude. The way 5G works, utilizing the super high frequency spectrum means it simply won't work as you'd expect. The higher the frequency, the less range it effectively has. Everything between you and the cell would fuck the signal up, this is why I compared it to DC electricity - you need A LOT of signal boosting/cells. This would take ages AND it would be hilariously expensive if you were to seriously cover the whole place. It also won't work indoors and that's exactly where the majority of data usage happens. Of course buildings can be fitted with 5G but, lol, it's not cellular internet now, is it? It's just a glorified wi-fi.

And do you really need those speeds again? We're already there dude, we've come very close to the maximum bandwidth we'll ever need right in our hands. I seriously can't differentiate between Quad-HD and 4K video, let alone 8k. We're not even talking about watching it on the phone. Maybe 5G can be used for AR stuff in the future, downloading stuff on the fly... don't know. I'm not even a big fan of VR/AR truth be told, although I consider myself a "futurist". I just think it's a fad, similar to "3D" cinema.

Anyway, hope we see enough change in our lifetimes that makes us all look like fools.

Anyone know if there is a way to know who airpods I found? In my office at work I found a pair of air pods. Thought they were mine. It goes they are not mine when I open them but if I want to connect. Anyway to find out who owns them?

I work at a school so it can literally be 100s of people. I don’t want to be like hey students free AirPod should to the first person who comes to my office.

it's a long shot, but if it's a bluetooth device, it might have a personalized name when you connect it to a phone/computer. that would help identify the owner.

Dont airpods connect automatically if they know your phone and bluetooth is on?

You could still say hey i found airpods whos are they and if people claim they re their just check if they connect automatically as in tell them to pull out their phone and just turn on bluetooth if they connect without search you know that he at least had his phone connected to them at some point.

True but it’s was in my office

I will email my classes if they lost anything recently to come see me. Not saying what it is and then check if it connects.

I have the new iPhone 12.

5g is weird

LTE internet on T-mobile near my house - 5mbs
5G in boston - 30mbs
5G near the mall by my house (5 miles away from my house) - 170 mbs up, 50 down....

It just doesn't make sense how the difference of 5 miles is that much faster

That's milimeter tech for you, it's so finicky right now. It requires such close proximity to dedicated towers. That's the way it is.

Considering upgrading the ol’ Nokia 8.1 for a value for money phone. I’ve never been a high-spec fiend and quite enjoy the AndroidOne OS. I haven’t been on the Samsung UI for a couple of years. Is it still bloated as fuck? It’s just that this Samsung 5G FE looks like a good deal (touchscreen issues permitting).

I’ve had to use the latest iOS fairly often throughout the last week and, after being on Android for the last few years, (to me) it’s the drizzling shits.

Purchased a Google Pixel 4a last month. More amazed how many talk about the headphone jack still existing. Didn't know so many removed that feature.

USING the internet as A MEANS of communication IS OUTDATED, so ARE telephones.

I use PIGEONS. THEY are a THING OF the future.

Can’t wait for apple to brand it the iPigeon and charge $700 for the mini, 900 for the regular and 1,200 for the pro

I just ordered one today, oddly enough. First time in ten years we've agreed on anything.
