Im planning to get S9+. Usually the even galaxy S versions are not the most stable and the uneven are the real deal, plus it's price will drop once S10 will get out.

I've had this for a year. Very good phone. Battery seems decent too. I can finish a 30 minute run with Spotify running with only 1% battery drainage. My recommendation would be to forgo a screen protector, because the front has a gorilla glass, and get a thin 15 dollar Spiegen case for the glass back that's droop-proof, if you're looking for a case.

Android phone that:
- is in size something like iPhone 6/6s/7
- has at least 4, or more, GBs of RAM
- has Android One or some not-so-bad android flavour
- is not as expensive as some newer iPhone.

My wife got Xiaomi Mi A2 (6X) (128/6 GB version) and I was blown away by the phone for so little money compared to iPhones and Galaxy phones. I would get it myself if it was any smaller (hate big phones, kinda small hands).

Any recommendations?

Look at OnePlus (6 or earlier). You get 90% of the features for half the price. Unfortunately, there's little you can do about the size. The smallest you can get is like 6" nowadays.

If you're willing to go earlier, try the regular Pixel 2, but that's still somewhat expensive, and I heard it wasn't the greatest. But it has a 5" screen.

I've tried S9 in my hand and it's perfect. It's "long" screen but the build size is small and fits just fine. I was also thinking about S9 as it will drop in price soon.

I am finally making the switch to the S10E, i have used an iPhone 6 since 2016, cant wait to start using my new phone.

In other news, Samsung just announced the new note 10 and they removed the headphone jack, so that prob is the beginning of the end for them on phones, they are still there for laptops and other devices but Samsung were the last holdout, so the S11 will prob follow suit.

I got my mother the S8 and its been working fine with her, i use it from time to time and looks solid.

The S10E is the only phone that kept the headphone jack, no faceid, no curved screen, no notch, 5.8 screen etc, 8GB of Ram and the price as well was hard to pass up.

Only reason for me to go back to Apple is if i dont like this phone or if i end up getting an Apple watch.

Im using s10+ now, and im really happy with it. Used s7 edge before that, imo the most stable phone ever. Tried iPhone 8+ for couple of months after that, didnt like it at all, so i went back to samsung, s10+

To be fair i have used an iPhone 6 that i got in like Sep 2014 from around Jan 2016 til now which is like 3.5 years and it has never did any shady shit, the battery only failed once and the fingerprint home-button is still good, it just got slower with the new updates and with apps needing a better phone.

I have read people have problems with both phones.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The back camera is fantastic. And I've never gotten a "crash". Been on Samsung devices exclusively for 4-5 years.

You should know Samsung has probably the build quality out of any phone out there, including Apple. Their only problem is the bloatware, having 2 versions of every freaking app (Samsung Version, Android Version). It has half a foot on the "Android world" but they try to recreate their own world with the Bixby crap etc...

If you want a pure Android experience, similar to Apple with iOS, then OnePlus is your best bet.

Thats a apple fan boy stereotype. I ve been on iphones from the first to come out till the i phone 6 and switched to the s8 2 years ago. And i m more then happy that i made that switch could not imagine going back to an iphone.
Also my samsung crashes less than my last iphone did and after 2 years it s battery is in a way better state then any 2 year old iphone battery i ever had.

Anyways if you ever dont wanna grossly overpay for a phone dont get and iphone and live with it for two weeks and then tell me again how apple is better.

Been with Samsung for the past 5 years, real happy with them. Had the S6 for 4 years and only upgraded to the S10e because of battery life. The camera on the S10e is amazing.

One complain I have though it has a Samsung and Google Calendar, it has Google assistant and Bixby, it has gmail and samsung email which is kinda annoying but I can live with it.

Bixby is the most annoying thing Samsung has ever made. I got the Note 9 on release which has the damn Bixby button right near the volume buttons, so I keep accidentally pressing it. Also it was supposed to have a huge battery at the time, but I have found that the battery life on it is easily the worst out of the last few Samsung phones I had in the past few years like the S7 Edge, Note 4, etc. I charge it multiple times a day, maybe because it's a bigger more spec'd out phone it also drains the battery quicker.

The S10e does not have a large battery if I use it a lot I have to charge it once during the day but other than that I don't mind it since it's a smaller phone.

Just preordered my iPhone 11s

Going to get 11s because I can get each for $300 for trading in my parents iPhone 7s on T-Mobile

Not a great upgrade from the XR but need to make rotate my phones out every 2 years.

Hope by the next phones we have 5g in my town for it to even matter

5G is like DC electricity - you need cells every 5 freaking meters for it to work as promised.

Also massive signal losses, even if you're behind a fucking tree... 5G is great but it's a niche thing for the central areas of large cities, it won't be a 100% coverage like 4G is. Plus, who the fuck actually needs that speed... 4G is more than sufficient for everyday use, so even its use cases would be niche.
