Something is off with the team physically. I’d be interested to see the running stats this year in comparison to last year or the prior year.
We haven’t been able to keep pace with either big team we have played so far this season, and this is Serie A. One of the things we did well last year was winning so many of the second balls, Barella and Broxo in particular picked up so many loose balls. Now it seems like they’ve lost a full step. That doesn’t happen in a year to players in their 20s. The physical training obviously isn’t what it was.
How if you’re the coach you can be okay with that I had no idea. I know Conte is known for running players to death but why would you let the squads fitness levels drop from what they were already accustomed to? Is this some type of strategy? To peak later due to the World Cup mid season? I just don’t get why we look so unfit.
