You do realize that they're still teenagers, right? Most footballers reach their peak at, what, 26-27? Obi has shown maturity beyond his age, Coutinho has shown skill that most people have a hard time even dreaming of, and Castaignos scored 15 goals in the best Dutch league at the age of 17-18.

Yes, I believe they're extremely talented - all they need is some Nike-sponsorship and obviously another team's shirt, before they can be called that according to some people.

That's the best post I've read all mercato.

How close is Poli to being done btw? This shows to give Branca and co. the full mercato before being judged.
Dylan,

You are right. It only takes a couple of hours and then BAM, Pandev out, Poli in. Hopefully before the end we can add Forlan to that list. Of course we can always hope for a miracle (Tevez..Lavezzi), quite frankly knowing Moratti, I would never rule out a surprise...no matter how unlikely it looks.

As you say, wait until the end before judging. Even if we don't add more than Forlan, I'll still have hope for the scudetto with this team (nothing more).

Did I say it was a great mercato?

No.

Here we go again.

We need a mobile, high-energy, good all-around starter in midfield... Poli, all though he has good potential and technical qualities, is gonna leave us even more exposed than our starting options. I have no problems with signing Poli since it's a good deal and he is possibly a great talent, but even if we sign him, he doesn't solve our midfield's main problem I feel. Kucka I don't know so much, maybe he has those necessary qualities to have provided it, maybe not, cannot comment. In my mind it was gonna be very good if we were gonna buy two ready to start midfielders in summer (good if one ready and one soon to be), now we look like we have to do with one that isn't even ready and isn't even with the right characteristics.

We need a defender since it's quite clear we play with 3 at the back. I am almost certain we are forced to buy one for 125% of usual price in January. Not necessarily starting material, but good enough not to fuck up now and with potential for long future at the club's backline... shame about our now inexistant relationship with Fiorentina because Camporese would be brilliant one for the future, but I'm thinking we haven't noticed him.

In attack we required youth, unpredictability, pace. I have no problems giving away Pandev and no problems selling Eto'o for that price. However getting rid of Eto'o meant we lost our only man in attack that can take on and beat defenders. We needed a such extra guy already with Eto'o in the team, now we need two. If we sign Forlan and Zarate the situation is not that horrible but only if we have some ideas for next summer and willingness to spend a bit bigger on some big talent to take Forlan's place in the team, but I doubt again that this is what our directors are thinking.

This market makes me question if our board even watches our games lately or whether they are too busy going after Palacio who they are failing to get it seems (now I jinxed it...). I wonder if they weren't there for the Schalke game, had the recorded game in their offices but knew the result and said to eachother: "We don't want to watch that, eh?"

Here is a crazy idea(especially after today's game). Let's forget that stupid and unrealistic talk about Guardiola and bring Wenger after this season.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a huge fan of Wenger, never was and have always thought he was overrated but do you guys see a better coach for this new project available in the near future? I can see him out of Arsenal at the end of the season and there are some clubs(like PSG) who would love to have him.

I was hoping Moratti would bring Spale or Ancelotti over the summer but they were never seriously linked to us so I'm pretty much sure they are out of the focus.

Pretty much the same with guys like Dunga or Deschamp whom I like alot.

Hiddnik does not convince me at this point of his career nor does Capello.

Wenger is not ideal but would be pretty good for us in this ''no money to spend big so we try to find young and cheap who can turn out pretty good'' strategy.

He did fuck up many things with Arsenal over the years although not everything is his fault.

Ideally we would have better results with finding youngsters over the world and would probably play better footbal which would help us earn more money in the long run. Don't know about trophies though.

I would not jump of joy if Moratti brought Wenger but I can't see a better option for us becoming available any time soon.

Capello seems to be past it, especially for the conditions in which he doesn't get to have a finished team.

Hiddink is an interesting option but the fact is he has never acomplished anything long term with a club outside of Holland. Big red flag if you ask me.

Wenger only wants very very young players, no old player. Inter still wants to compete even if at the same time focussing on youth.

It's not true at all.

It's been a mix for Wenger over the years, but he has brought quality players who could contribute right away between 23 and 27 on regular basis.

Hleb, Rosicky, Campbell, Vermaelen, Sagna, Gervinho just to name a few.

Forlan and Poli done, but we need more. Will be a very exciting couple of days. I'm really hoping for Lavezzi or Tevez, that may be the reason why we let Palacio go.

Don't know how the relationship is between Moratti and Gasp anymore, after Moratti's comments. Are we fucked again?

Gasp is a dead man walking....

this could be a good thing though....might force Gasp to adjust his tactics to suit the team...
