Mercato Team (Ausilio, Marotta, & Co.) and Strategies

There is only one absolute priority this team needs, and that's a quality fourth striker. Everything else including imo other improvable positions like dumfries or asllani replacement are negotiable and not that urgent.

Splurge everything we got and will get on quality forward...

Actually I don't believe what Marotta or Ausilio say now, because our mercato is quite dependable of what kind of offers we will receive for our players, and who of our players will actually accept some rich proposal.

I don’t like the idea of selling Carboni now. He’s probably the one young attacker already on our books that has super star potential. Like if Man U came with 50mil and we could get Zirkzee maybe, but I doubt it.

Based on this we need a GK. Most probably we‘ll go low cost here and opt for someone like Audero this season. I see us going for the longterm first GK after next season. Improbably we could also go for Bento or Di Gregorio (high investment) or for Meret (free, legit option).

Furthermore we need a LCB. Here the most logical options will be Hermoso (don’t know if he’d like to back up Basto), and Valentini. Other scenarios could include Buongiorno, Pirola and considering our wing back situation maybe Darmian and Carlos.

In my opinion we have to address the striker position and RWB position. Here I would strengthen for Dumfries (try for Di Lorenzo) and Guirassy for Arnautovic. An absolute dream scenario would be if we replaced Asllani with someone more experienced.

More importantly this Mercato has to be about securing the future; secure Fabbian, get Esposito a decent Serie A loan (he’s proven that he’s capable), try for Pinamonti if there is some budget open and get Zanotti decent Serie A experience as he seems to go the Dimarco way.

Mercato should be straight forward:

Starting RWB, ST, CCB and if we still have money a midfielder. But the first three are absolute priories

Sell Dumfries idc. We need to upgrade the squad and not settle for this.

Moving Thuram and Mkhi to the bench is good for depth.

We also need to make buys for the bench. An impact wing back would be ideal. Someone who can cause trouble or hit on the country late in the game.

Why? We won Scudetto with Sanchez and Arna as a 3rd and 4th striker. Bento is good and Zielinski is a reinforcement in the midfield.

Every season is it's own bubble. If you think we'll just repeat the same, you really hate history.

Just look at how many unexpected injuries happened in the second Inzaghi season, where we had more than 10 losses in the league.

Some players are leaving (Sensi, Klaassen?, Sanchez, Cuadrado, Audero), others should leave (Correa, Arnautović), some I would love to get back (Fabbian), some players should start less next season (Mkhitaryan, Acerbi, Darmian).

Ok let's say we get Fabbian back next summer, maybe the new CB too (altho I dread having DeVrij and Acerbi as the only midCB for the full season). I don't want Arna or Correa at the club, we should be on the offensive and bring a player like Gudmundsson. I don't trust Buchanan and neither does Inzaghi, so maybe an older, cheap player that can play LCB would be appreciated too, so that Carlos Augusto can play LWB more often. Darmian on the left is just a defensive option.


We all have seen us crashing out of CL. It's clear we had Atletico by the balls in the first game, we just didn't finish our chances. Lautaro is good, but not great in CL, Thuram is the same tbh (does great in Serie A derbies tho) and I don't trust Taremi, but let's say he will do better than Arna. We really need somebody to be a menace in attack. We need to spend some money and it just happens that Serie A have two, maybe even three players, that we should look at. Atm I'd be even happy with Berardi since Sassuolo is probably going down. The problem is that we won't be the only club looking at these players.

We need 4 competitive strikers.

My first priority is adding a proper striker who his level is almost the same as Thuram as 3rd option.
Arna can be our 5th option or out idc.
If either of Lauti or Thuram gets injured we would get fucked.
Second priority could be RW then GK and finally CCB

I didn’t say we could pull it off. Highly doubt it would. But it is what I believe we need. Otherwise we will always feel lacking.

We played a crucial second leg vs atletico and our depth consisted of 4 centre backs coming on as subs

Yeah we need another attacking player in addition to Taremi.
Lautaro, Thuram, Taremi, Arnautiovic, + maybe Correa () is not enough, I completely agree. Doesn't even need to be a striker really, just someone who can take on his man around the penalty box.

Striker is the only position i would have an extra player.

LCB, Darmian can be.
Right Winger, Buchanan and Dumfries can be.

But if Lautaro or Thuram have a serious injury we can't rely on Arna or Taremi so much.
Back then we had Julio Cruz as 5th striker. Plus we will play World Cup Club
