Why do we need Klaassen when we have Zielinski coming?

Honestly I don't like Klaasen at all. He knows where to position himself, but sometimes his passing is very risky and "brainless". Yesterday, there was a moment where Lecce were pressing, he received the ball and passed it to a teammate, who was nearby and who was immediately attacked by the opponent. His overall performance didn't impress me as well.
If we need more depth in the middle, I'd go for Duncan, who will be a available for free.

Klassen was ok for a fillgap for this season, nothing more. We are pretty much set in all positions for the next season. Only a backup GK is needed, or maybe a fifth forward, which could be Carboni or Correa.

Why yes? If Zielinski doesn't come to replace a starter then we have squad depth in midfield for the first time in ages. Calha, Barella, Mkhi, Frattesi, Zielinski, Asllani for 3 positions. Great depth. Why wasting money to keep Klaassen? As a 7th option? You can just save money and include a primavera kid in selections if you want to add another option.

Klaassen had a purpose this season as a 6th option because he was cheap and Sensi was broken. With Zielinski coming Klaassen has no purpose in the squad.

if we will be in need for a 7th midfielder id actually go for De Roon. He's free and can cover all the midfield positions.

De Roon will be 33 in a month. I am sure he wants to be a starter, but if he'd rather win something, now is the time.... And if not, then sure, Klaassen can stays for another year if he wants.

The tournament is scheduled to be played in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025.

The 32 teams will be divided into 8 groups of 4 teams with the top 2 teams in each group qualifying to the knockout stage.The format will be the same that was used in the FIFA World Cup between 1998 and 2022.

Dates make things "interesting " regarding contracts.

For example, Dumfries contract expires in June 30, 2025. Let's say for the sake of the argument his contract isn't extended but he also stays at the club to fulfill his contract. Is he eligible for World Cup squad or not? Because typically he could only play in June matches.

Our squad is not thin. With Zielinski and Taremi coming I keep one of Correa or Carboni as the 5th forward and one from Primavera can play as the 7th midfielder. No need for more players unless a good opportunity arises, like the deals we did for Pavard or Bisseck.

My best guess is that it's going to be a similar deal to what happened in 2020 with COVID and the schedules then...most leagues didn't finish until after June ended, and there was the European competitions played in August. There was concern about "what about July 1 free agents?", and that ended up being a non-concern, players who were otherwise out of contract still finished their competitions and then whatever happened later was its own deal. Odds are, if a player is out of contract and set to leave, they'll either sign a short contract to see out the remainder of the CWC (if their team is still alive in the competition) or the end of contract doesn't become valid until the season itself - assuming the CWC is officially part of the 2024-'25 European season - has completed.

The bigger problems, no doubt, are created by potentially having a super short off-season and the effect that will have on the transfer window for teams involved, how they transact business. For arguments sake, we reach the CWC final on July 13, just how much of an off-season are we going to have before 2025-'26 begins? When does pre-season training begin? In the COVID year obviously every team had the same break - it was as if the summer break was shifted from June-August to March-May, the break between the end of 2019-'20 and 2020-'21 was extremely brief, especially for CL and EL teams - but that's not the case here. We're going to have a few weeks between the end of Serie A and the CWC (maybe with a CL Final appearance mixed in ), then potentially a month of the CWC, then the Serie A season will likely begin around the third weekend of August as it normally does (and since summer 2026 is a World Cup year it's not like there's a lot of flexibility here). Poor motherfuckers are barely gonna be able to get away from the sport.

We're all football fans obviously and we all enjoy watching the games, but fuck me we need fewer games in this sport, not more. Just writing this all out annoys me. This sport already has such a short off-season as it is between club seasons, and now almost every summer is tied up in something; Euros + Copa America's, or the World Cup, or the CWC...it's ridiculous. I'm also guessing the fucking Nations League shit fits in there somewhere (another useless fucking money-grab competition). Quit running these guys into the ground.
