Back in 2012 when Karimi was well into his 30s, some Iranian came to the forum and insisted he would be a key signing for Inter.

Infinitely preferable to Sanchez, probably Arnautovic too. He’s also a standard #9 goal scorer in some respects.

That said, completely not the profile I wanted, which was someone with a bit of pace for a change, even if they’re more of a winger / wide forward.

Imagine if we had a Leon Bailey type player in the squad. Would be so useful to have that kind of skill set in our arsenal. Something we’ve completely lacked for years.

I wanted someone more pacy too. It doesn't surprise me we are going for Taremi though given that we really need to focus on the free transfer market as we can't spend anything until we sell - even then we can only use a fraction of that money to buy players.

I think Taremi is a huge improvement over Arnautovic/Sanchez - I just wish there was a way the 4th striker could be someone outside of Arnautovic/Correa next season.

Agreed. However those players cost money as they’re rarely out of contract when they are in their prime years and still have their pace. Thats what makes Thuram signing such a unicorn.

I think the best we can hope for is somehow shipping out Arnautovic so we aren’t stuck with two large cumbersome aging number 9s who aren’t suited to play together. Then maybe we have someone like Carboni as the 4th forward. Not pacey but at least a different more creative profile then we currently have.
