A talented left back from Brazil who at Ajax was destined for great things and wanted by many clubs. Bought by Inter on a free in January and loaned out he will be with us next season. Maybe the future LB and finally the solution to our problems at that posistion

some info on him from Ajax-usa.com:

Maxwell Scherrer Cabelino Andrade (born Vila Velha, Brazil, 27 August 1981) is neither a Dutchman nor did he come all the way through the youth ranks. Yet, it feels like he is a true Ajacied. He was only 19 years old when Ajax signed him on 13 June 2001, after having seen the stylish left-footer play with his youth team of Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte at a youth tournament in The Netherlands. Maxwell had never seen first team action at that point.
He made his official début for Ajax in the very first league game of his first season, at home against Roda JC on 19 August 2001. He very briefly lost his spot in the fall of 2001, but apart from that he never disappeared from Ajax's starting line-up in the next four seasons: he had 24 Eredivisie appearances in 2001-2002, 30 in 2002-2003, 31 in 2003-2004 and 29 in 2004-2005, until that fatal cup game in Tilburg. His three year deal was extended until the summer of 2006 on 11 Febuary 2004, during what was arguably his best season as an Ajacied: the 2003-2004 campaign, at the end of which Ajax lifted the championship shield and Maxwell theV VCS Player Of The Year Award.

Maxwell had 114 Eredivisie appearances for Ajax and he also played 11 domestic cup matches and 31 games in UEFA competition. That's 156 official games for Ajax-1, in which he netted ten times: nine goals in the Dutch league and one in 'Europe'. He won two Dutch championships (2002 and 2004) with Ajax, as well as one Amstel Cup (2002).
Maxwell hardly ever made headlines, but was a stylish, gracious Ajacied and a true gentleman on and off the pitch

Expect very much from this guy. Hope he doesn't let me down. Only minus is his injury prone, but excluding this, he's a great player.

I'm glad he joined us, but I belive Grosso should be our starting lb next year.

Grosso is very close to Italy's starting lineup, that proves his worth.

Good to know we're finally going to have a proper lb, and not one but 2!:boogy:

If maxwell is match fit and adjusted to serie a in time he should be the number 1. Grosso is too slow imho.

Sounds good. Hopefully Cesar can just be his back-up and Burdisso as 3rd-choice back up. No need to buy 2 world-class full-backs, then we're destined for trouble with one of them (e.g. Pizarro-Veron, Zanetti-Cambiasso, Figo-Ze Maria, Solari-Stankovic, Toldo-J.Cesar)...

Cesar? :wth:

I wouldn't want Cesar to stay, not even as a back up. Grosso can be Maxwell's back up, or even Coco, no Cesar please.

you obviously did NOT read everything I said. Otherwise you would understand.

Having 2 world-class players in a position (especially LEFT-BACK) is ridiculous, because 1 of them is likely to play for the whole season with the back-up rarely getting games. A world-class player like Grosso is too good to be sitting on the bench, vice versa with Maxwell.

Cesar is not a world-class left-back, but he's a quality player who can be reliable and be strong enough to be back-up a regular left-back. Burdisso or even J.Zanetti can also play left-back if necessary.

Why do I get the feeling that everyone here has been spoilt and they expect everything to be 'perfect' on paper like this is a manager game or FIFA game or something.

Realistically, 2 world-class players in the same position can never be kept happy if they're in the same squad. That's a fact!

You have a right point. But how's Maxwell a world-class player? I don't rate him yet in that category. And I consider Maxwell to our left winger position too besides left back. Grosso should be a starter, Maxwell as rotation player in left back and left winger positions.

I agree to a certain extent with you, Cafe. But I do not want us to make Maxwell a ''rotation player'' as he can easily end up being displeased and a want-away. In fact, Grosso's not here yet, and until he is Maxwell is our best (and only) LB. But I wouldn't mind both Maxwell and Grosso in the team.

Here are three links confirming Maxwell.

But it's also worth making notice of the fact that Max hasn't played a single minute for Empoli. Don't know wheter or not he has made a complete recovery from his knee injury. But, on the other hand, Julio Cesar didn't play for Chievo either.

Maxwell has been an Inter player since Jan....he will be confirmed on Inter.it whenever the transfer zone begins again.

Maxwell will be first class if he recovers from that injury without missing a beat

I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to close this thread.

I think we have to wait until an official news from inter.it, not just an extract from an interview, before we can fully confirm that Maxwell is ours.

After all, we came to the conclusion that Obinna would be an Inter player coma January after reading one of Facchetti's interview but the Nigerian is not, until now. So I'll temporarily close this thread until further confirmation from inter.it. :)

I think Maxwell is a great player and can become a world-class LB, he is better than Favalli so that is an improvement, however we also lost Wome that makes an opening in the LB position. Here I agree with primo-inter, there's no need for two players of equal quality for the same position.

However I agree Maxwell is a bit injury-prone, so what to do without a proper replacement? Our board should think carefully about all this and decide if we are to buy a new player (Grosso), recall a player (Coco) or promote a player (?).

Welcome to Inter lad. If he could just put in performances like he did Ajax before injury he'd be a great buy no doubt. Did I want him or not doesen't matter anymore. He is in Inter and he is one of us now!

Phuck you guys lol for a moment I thought we signed Andrade. Maxwell will have some massive competition with Dejan and Grosso, we'll see how he can cope with that. Welcome to Inter.
