He was making runs all night but was never getting serviced. I hope Jovetic and Icardi can gel.

I agree with Ronin. It's not his fault, at least not entirely. He gets zero service because most of our balls into the box are from the middle (Jovetić) or crosses from our fullbacks. We were trying some creative passing, but comparing to Palermo, we failed in most, but they keep out-playing us.

Either him or Jovetić on the bench for the next game. It can't be a coincidence that we played better without him and that we look clueless with both Jovetić and Icardi on the field.

Jovetic is just as much to blame imo. He significantly slows down the tempo of the game. He holds on to the ball for way too long.

Time for bench and Ljajic starting...

Jojo
Perisic-Ljajic-Biabia

lel not gonna happen though

Biabia is improving tbh...while Icardi is getting worse and worse...

In the game thread I wrote about how I felt he is playing exactly the same way as he did last season, but last season he had Palacio who worked his butt off for him, and had chemistry with him.

I'm not saying Jovetic should play more for Icardi. I think it's possible we would be better off with a creative dynamic three like Perisic Jovetic and Ljajic, but then we would lack an aerial threat. And it's unrealistic since Mancini can't really drop his captain.

I honestly don't think Icardi and Jovetic will ever be the duo that people wanted or expected them to be. Their contrasting styles are obvious, and they both want to do different things with the ball.

Players like Icardi and Palacio want high tempo with a minimum amount of touches, while more technical players like Jovetic wants time on the ball with a lot of touches. I agree with you on that though. I find it difficult to see how Icardi and Jovetic are going to work other, unless one of them changes their gamestyle, and we might have to end up picking only one of them by the end of the season.

Jovetic is too slow for direct football, and Icardi doesn't have enough creativity or technique to play in a slow tempo setting.

Agreed, but it goes both ways. You could also say he mistimed his runs all night which meant he was often offside or out of position which left Jovetic with less passing options when he did want to pass the ball.

I'm not saying which one is right. The answer is probably somewhere in the middle

I sort of agree with this, but unless Icardi just has to finish the move he often is who breaks down quick counterattacks. Well him or Guarin

I think Jovetic needs to understand as well that he doesn't have 5 options like at City, but one and it's Icardi. When Icardi finally finds space and starts to run then Jovetic needs to give that option a chance more often. But Jovetic seems to trust more his preferred move -- bounce the ball off of someone and do it all yourself. And he is amazing at it but it's suboptimal use of what Inter has at its' disposal.

We know what Icardi can do even with little service, so if Icardi's dry spell continues it will be on Jovetic as well imo

or he/JoJo is hogging the ball because the other guys don't make much off an effort to get in to open space for a pass...We are the 2 laziest team when it comes to running...:eek:blivious:

It's the way they play too. Icardi (and Palacio) likes one touch passes (how often he completes them is another issue). Jovetic likes to take his time and dribble around to look for openings.

Icardi touched the ball 19 times in 77 minutes, Ljajic 15 times after he came on for Icardi. I'm not expecting him to be like Ljajic of course, but that's a fairly depressing statistic.

Medel had 78 touches today, Modric had 57. As I said, Icardi is a one-touch/high tempo type of player. He's not a creative striker.
