I saw today a 40 minute Kovacic interview on Croatian Sport Television, he talk about his early days,Dinamo,
National team his personal life andof course about Inter. He said that in Dinamo they work more and better
with young players and he was a bit disappointed how they work with young players in Inter, he said that Inter
likes to buy players and not do much to develope young players. He said that Strama was a ok coach but some
players are older than him and there was a bit of a conflict with coach and older players-he didn't say which
players and said that wasn't so bad, just normal stuff in locker room.
He loves it in Inter and hopes that we get top 3 finish next season, he is good with Stankovic,Handa.

You're not the only one Mateo.

And he basically confirms the somewhat strained relationship between Strama and the old guard. I imagine Cuchu is one of those unnamed players.

If some 18 year old kid can walk into the club and can see issues so quickly and clearly it obvious that the problems are/were quite serious.

Surprising to see Jovetic with such poor stats there.

For Kovacic, the success rate is good as is for other deeper players like Gundogan or Pizarro. But the number of dribbles is very high, and part of the reason for that is the fact that his teammates are never in a position to receive the ball from him which in turn gives him more space.

Natural to have deep lying playmakers with better dribbling success rates, more space at the back as mentioned above. The only difference is Kovacic attempts more dribbles than any other deep lying playmakers.

The main question is, can he maintain such high success rate higher up the pitch like Diego (pretty astonishing success rate for his position). If yes, then he'd be a very powerful offensive weapon for us up front.

That said, his offensive game still needs a bit more development.

Chuchu is main clprit for Gasperni removal when it was shown that on TV telling Rannochia we never play three in deffence ..... any tactics that expose his slowness and the coach in trouble ,,,, and he is getting older and slower by time but MM believe in him so we need Erick Tohir badly to remove the oldies and start a real new cycle otherwise it will be the same over and over

With Kovacic, I really hope he does well in the future.

His new habit, however, of surging forward may not be productive in the future. I remember that with Dinamo he was really overconfident and inconsistent, of course also extremely talented, but he often lost possession with unnecessary dribbles and runs, which ultimately cost him the Golden Boy award to Isco.

There is a possibility that we will see selfish attributes from this player, unless a good coach kicks it out of him and gives him a defined role in the team, which was Stramaccioni's biggest failure as a coach (to neglect giving specific roles to players in the tactic, and just tell Alvarez, Kovacic, Palacio, and Guarin to go forward), resulting in a high frequency of individualistic tendencies in all 4 at times.

He is an absolute gem of a player though, and his performances have been simply sensational, never mind that he's 19 years old (!).

Mateo Kovacic did really well in his first six months at Inter. What do you make of him

“I prefer not to say too much until I’ve actually coached the players. He’s certainly promising though. I don’t know him but I’ve played against him so I can see he’s a promising player. He’s talented but also young. I’ll be able to say more once I’ve spent a month or so with him.”

This was Mazzarri reply about Kovacic

Gasperini said it himself said that Cambiasso did not do that, ffs if a lie is told long enough it becomes the truth. Gasperini got fired because he didn't get the right players he needed resulting in the team playing like shit when we used his formation.

[unpopular opinion time]

I think Kovacic is a gem. He clearly has a lot of class, a lot of skill. But is he really "that" effective? From transfermarket, he only created two assists in his 13+4+1 games for us. Thats 2 assists in 18 games. Pereira has 5 assists, in 40 games. Even Benassi has landed a goal and 1 assist in his 13 games he played for us...

I think Kovacic is an absolutely fantastic player, and especially bearing in mind his age, once he learns to be an EFFECTIVE player, we'll see an awful lot more from him.

Of course his stats are at least partially attributed to the lack of effective team mates - this is true - but Benassi was playing in a similar sort of time to Kovacic.

Anyway to sum it up, he's clearly a talented player, but I'm going to reserve my jizz a little for a bit, until he becomes a bit more effective. Whether that is in the shape of team mates, or him learning to time his impact, etc, we'll see, but yeah.
