I hate you @brehme1989 . You made me visit gazzetta after years of embargo.
For the standards of the Greek media this was a decent read. I was expecting it more cringy. Thanks for posting it.
Wow. Yours was even longer. 2014 for me.How many years did you break? Haven't been there since 2011 myself
Former Inter President Massimo Moratti can’t choose between Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku and shares his thoughts on the Serie A title race.
The Nerazzurri could climb to the top of the table if they win their game in hand against Bologna on April 27. They were the only club among the top three teams in Serie A to win last weekend. Moratti, the legendary Nerazzurri President who won the Treble in 2010, spoke to Radio Uno about the title race and agreed with Milan coach Stefano Pioli who had claimed that the top four clubs should play at the same time in the final part of the campaign.
“It would be more interesting and fair,” said Moratti.
“Everything changes every weekend, Inter made the right step and were really convincing against Verona. A few games are remaining and there is no more room for mistakes. Games against the so-called smaller teams are those that make me more worried.
“I don’t think Juventus are out of the race just yet, unfortunately,” the 76-year-old continued.
“They always find a way to win and I believe that the first three will have to pay attention to the Bianconeri, who never give up.”
The Nerazzurri will sign at least one new striker next season and both Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku have been linked with a move to San Siro. Lautaro Martinez has recently signed a contract extension but is being monitored by many clubs in Europe, especially Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.
“I’d always sign Dybala, he is really strong. However, I believe Inter need a centre forward. If it’s not Lukaku, Inter will need a new one anyway,” said Moratti.
“Lautaro is a promising striker who hasn’t yet made that extra step. He has all the means to do well. I hope he can do better in the next games. Edin Dzeko has done well also without him. Joaquin Correa is a smart striker.”
Inter and Milan are considering building their new stadium outside the city of Milano, where they will not get a new one until 2027. Sesto San Giovanni is one of the options for the two clubs.
“Sesto San Giovanni is an excellent spot for a new stadium, but it would be bad for the city of Milano,” acknowledged Moratti.
“Keeping an empty monument like the Stadio Meazza there would be useless, I don’t want to defend it, but when you enter there, you feel the passion and you feel that incredible pages in football’s history were written there.”
How about José Mourinho? His Roma side is unbeaten in 11 Serie A games and are one of the Italian clubs still involved in European competitions. The Special One was in charge of Moratti’s Inter when they won the Treble in 2009-10.
“I still talk to him sometimes, I hope he can do well, except against Inter after Easter,” the former Nerazzurri president concluded.
Moratti never made any secret of the fact that he enjoys a warm relationship with Mourinho, not just on a professional level but also a human one.
The Portuguese coach returned to Serie A last summer to take charge of Roma, coming back to the Italian top flight for the first time since leaving Inter to manage Real Madrid in the summer of 2010, and after a season spent building the Giallorossi up they are seen by many as among the contenders for the Scudetto this time around.
“Every week there seems to be a fluctuation in the opinions about the teams fighting for the Scudetto,” Moratti said. “Milan are a strong team who play good football, they look concrete.”
“Inter have the advantage,” he continued. “They have the chance to win it. They had it last season as well, though, and that’s what scares me.”
“If Inter don’t win it, then there’s no doubt that I’ll be rooting for Mourinho’s Roma,” the former Nerazzurri President added.
Moratti is getting wiser with age or just more tolerant? The pressure is growing on Inzaghi to turn things around and Tuttomercatoweb asked Treble-winning patron Moratti for advice.
“Considering last season, this start was unexpected. Certainly, Romelu Lukaku’s injury made an impact and changed the situation, but it looks like a bigger problem to me, if it really does regard the internal rapport between players and coach.
“I hope that is not true, because I think Inzaghi is a good lad and a fine coach. The team is also more or less the same as last season.”
There have been a few changes, most notably Perisic walking away as a free agent to reunite with ex-Inter boss Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Croatia international had contributed 10 goals and nine assists in 49 competitive games last year, but left after complaining Inter had left his contract extension talks to the last minute. Perisic has settled in well in the Premier League, providing four assists in nine competitive games for Spurs.
“We all like to pretend to forget that Perisic was a fantastic player and he gave a very big helping hand to the defence too,” added Moratti.
“Perhaps his departure was under-estimated, it was a very big and notable change to the team.”
When asked if he would stick with Inzaghi, Moratti joked about his record in charge of Inter.
“I’m not the person to ask, because I went through so many coaches, my opinion isn’t exactly reliable… Joking aside, I would continue with Inzaghi, because I think he already proved himself.”
Moratti would have fired Inzaghi 3 times by now.MORATTI: ‘INTER UNDER-ESTIMATED LOSS OF PERISIC TO TOTTENHAM’

Seems that he joined the narrative in which Suning stay as majority shareholders. There are growing reports that Suning are considering selling the club for €1.2b although President Steven Zhang said earlier this week that the Serie A giants are not up for sale. Moratti, the most successful President in the club’s history, believes Suning should not sell the club.
“Every change brings a shock and Suning’s stay would guarantee continuity,” Moratti told Iaminter.it.
Moratti sold the club to Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir in 2013 before Suning’s takeover three years later.
The Chinese conglomerate has been struggling financially since the COVID pandemic with Inter forced to sell some of their best players over the last two years.
They managed to keep hold of Milan Skriniar who had reached an agreement with PSG over the summer and the Nerazzurri are now in talks to extend his expiring contract.
“These are financial assessments only the club can make,” said Moratti. “Of course, it would be important to extend.”
Inter won the last three Serie A games and qualified for the Champions League Round of 16 for the second season in a row.
“The victory against Fiorentina was crucial for the title race,” said Moratti.
“Hopefully, they will go all the way through. I see a scary Napoli and an in-form Milan, gaining results consistently and with an excellent team.”
They lost their last appeal only yesterday. Juventini and Football Italia are crying all over the net and it's so beautiful to see.
"Do I claim the Calciopoli scudetto? Yes, absolutely. I know juventini get angry, and that makes me claim it with even more conviction. That scudetto would be the least compensation for the thefts we suffered. We would deserve so much more."
Our Presidente speaking truth and making goBBi seethe. They'll have to make a 53543456th appeal in court now to cope.
