Stupid idea time, but I was wondering could Mariga be the solution to our defensive midfielder problem if given the chance. The guy to stay in front of and baby sit and aid the defense if we are caught against a fast break?

I know this will never happen because we are coached by a cunt right now, so the formation is unchangeable, but hypothetically could this work? It's just a random depressed post but here goes; let me hear your opinion guys. Normally Icardi would be there but he's injured, so whatever.

I know, I'm just sad an desperate. I don't want to see this team play like this anymore. I know what to expect tomorrow.

According to 2011 I doubt he is up to the task but he is worth trying.. Afaik he is another Mudingayi, a bit shaky in positioning but has better skills with the ball.

A back four and Mariga starting? What the hell are you smoking? Messi will play for Inter before that happens.

I remember he was decent at the start of the 2010/2011 season I believe, but the guy has had it tough with these injuries. He would probably do a better job than Cambiasso though, we should put him to intimidate the opponents.

If a 22 year old Mariga walked in the door now, it would probably be a perfect time for him and he may have developed into a good player. However, Mariga came to this club at the wrong time and than had his struggles with injury. He was a raw player who needing polishing and playing time and wasted years of development on the treatment table. Now he's healthy but god knows for how long, still raw with his touch and passing, and now too old to take a gamble on.

Just that you guys were unlucky.

Man City's £7m deal for McDonald Mariga falls through

Inter Milan have signed Parma's Kenyan midfielder McDonald Mariga after his £7m move to Manchester City collapsed when he was refused a UK work permit.
Mariga, who has 24 caps, met part of the UK criteria after playing in 75% of Kenya's games in the last two years.
But his application failed as Kenya's average position in Fifa's rankings is outside the top 70 in the same period.
City attended an appeal at Wembley on Monday morning but failed to overturn the decision about the 22-year-old.
They would have been able to request a further appeal in a future transfer window but were not allowed to register Mariga as a player in the current window, despite agreeing terms with him and a fee with his club.
A delegation from Eastlands travelled to the appeal to argue their case in front of a panel made up of representatives from the Football Association, Premier League and the Professional Footballers' Association, as well as some 'independent football experts' - usually ex-players.

But they were unable to convince the appeal board of Mariga's merits, and his hopes of becoming the first Kenyan to play in the Premier League were scuppered.
Instead, he swiftly signed a four-and-a-half year contract with fellow Serie A side Inter, where he will wear the number 17 shirt.
Mariga joined Parma on a permanent basis in the summer of 2008, after initially moving on loan from Swedish side Helsingborgs.

Back then I was happy that City missed out on him thinking he was a good player.

He is not bad, he has never been bad when he played, unfortunately he is injured all the time, more than fucking Obi and Recoba was combined. I believe he had all the attributes to be great b2b.

Next question
That shirt number is a curse.
Always injured, played almost never. When fit, played in Parma, got knocked down, came back to our infirmary.
I was for one expecting a player with physical presence in our midfield for matches where Cambiasso seemed too frail.
To our surprise the frail one was Mariga, "Kenyan pride"

He's in the training photos with the rest of the team. Too lazy to see if he's included in match squads.

Suprised that he hasn't been linked away anywhere seriously.
