if some people think baggio don't deserve to be there with only 2 years playing with inter, then why figo?

Well how many trophies did Baggio win? And how many did Figo win for Inter? But Baggio wasn't added cause he was very great for Inter he's there cause he's Baggio dammit he's a legend. Figo has been excellent for us this past 2 years leading on assists winning the Scudetto and Coppa Italia.

Can someone provide some stats on Figo this year, particularly assists. IMO I feel that nothing comes from his work, particularly in the last two months. He's like a snake that has been milked of it's venom.

chitch, to be fair he hasnt featured in as many games as he did last season too..that probably plays a big part in not having as many assists, goals etc..

His been great at Inter, always up near the top in our assits list..

True he's spent more time on the bench but he's still made 25 appearances in the serie A so far (based on inter.it). Just feel that sometimes at Inter we worship our players too much. Sometimes you have to be hard to bring out the best. It's the workmanship of Stankovic, Cambiasso, Zanetti and the whole defence that has been getting us our results, even Ibra's muscle up front. I'd hate to see us go soft next year.

IMO Figo's recent form hasn't warranted the ratings he's been getting. The final execution isn't what it used to be. Like I said he's been great but time it's time to go.

Chitch; at 34, mostly being on the bench, having some aweful performance, injured etc. etc. etc. Still, Figo is the best winger this club has seen in nearly two decades, it's not even close.

This is not a hyperbole, I honestly haven't seen a winger at Inter with 25% of Figo's ability, class or efficiency. And this coming from a critic of his.

I love Baggio and he was one of the reasons I supported Inter, but if you want to compare their 'Inter legendness' then Figo is surely ahead of Baggio, NO QUESTION.

And finally, out of Stankovic, Zanetti, Ibra etc. Figo is the one who doesn't have passionate fanboys that are willing to glorify anything he does and justify any mistake of his, you couldn't be further from the truth on that. Go and check, Figo is the one who gets the most negativities and jibes on this team.

I agree that Figo has been great for us for the past seasons and contribute a lot to the team's victory. We are gonna miss him dearly next season if we do not find a good replacement for him this summer.

Well said tom moody..

Chitch, although I think his been nothing short of great for us over these 2 years I am with you in saying that he should leave this year.

He deserves to leave on a high and leave as a winner, at his age he struggles to keep up and instead of staying and just holding the team back he has enough respect to be the bigger man and say he cant keep up anymore and he would love to leave as a winner. Kinda reminds me of Warney.

And it will also be exciting to buy a new young player to repalce him.

must be the aussie background that has us on the same way length ;)

Wasn't saying he's hopeless, just believe it's time to move on. IMHO the recent articles suggesting that Mancini and Moratti want him to stay would be a mistake.

Best wide midfielder at the club is capitano, Javier in front of Maicon is a God send. We still have cover while Maicon attacks the space from deep.

You are joking right?

For real, I'd take a bullet for JZ, but he isn't 10% the wide-midfielder that Figo is.

So, what's your next shot at Figo? He doesn't cross well blind-folded?

P.S.: I am being serious here, but were you a full-back at LaLiga? Only them and Tommi have a huge grudge against Figo!

Depends what you're after. I prefer the old school mentality of better to win 5 games 1-0 then one game 5-0.

Personally I prefer a wide midfielder that plays goal line to goal line and always gets back behind the ball.

Javier has barely had a chance to play wide mid in 12 years, and I've reckon that has hurt us. We've been desperately looking for full backs but a bit of extra cover was all we needed.

Didn't want to turn this into have a dig at Figo thread, just saying thanks been great and now it's time to turn the next page in history.

to be truly honest, zanetti wasnt ever a cafu-type player with the mentality to keep attacking

even when he was the incumbent RB, he never truly ventured forward too often, a truly defensive minded fullback

why the hell are we talking about zanetti in figo's thread anyway?

Cheech, the reason why JZ isn't a successful wide-midfielder is not us, like you claim, but him. Like I said, I'd take a bullet for him, but when it comes to playmaking, he isn't good.

Have you seen him cross consistantly well? Don't you notice that 90% of his amazing and mazy runs end up in a horrible final ball?

With players like that as wide-midfielders, you will lose five times 1-0!!!

Anyway, let's stop this nonsense, you want to say your thanks to Figo, then by all means. But one can't help but respond to some unfair claims.

So Hamed are you telling me Moratti & Mancini should be trying their hardest to keep Figo for another year? Maybe match the wages being offered to him elsewhere?

Still think we have different opinions of what we'd like to see from a wide midfielder, you seem to get only half of what I'm trying to say.

You keep talking about JZ lack of offensive abilities, and I'm talking about the lack of defensive abilities from our past wide players. Watching JZ defend out wide from full back against two opponents has been a regular feature in the past because of the lack of cover from our wide midfield.

Personally I'd rather see Inter line up with a defensive minded midfielder, an offensive minded full back and a true no.10 behind one or two strikers.

J.Zanetti is too timid to be a world class winger. He's too God damn conservative and not willing to take the risk. I believe he feels that since he's the captain, he's responsible for not screwing things up and that is why he never try any fancy moves.

I think this guy is like the Vieri or Trezeguet of assists. 89 minutes of bad game and then boom, an assist or two with his great delivery from crosses or set pieces.
