Why would materazzi play? Samuel has probably been the best defender in the world so far this season, materazzi would have to be ridiculously good to reclaim his place.

The defense will the key here, since the midfield is quiet even. Liverpools strikers are average at best, torres is good but he's finishing is quiet poor.

We have better defenders on every single position. Liverpool will have to rely on luck to score.

he may not have the best run in the team, but 2.02m strikers cause problems wherever they go

esp. crouch, since he has the skills to be able to hold the ball up

Crouch will probably be leaving Liverpool in Jan, though I wouldn't be surprised if they retained him essentially for this match.

I totally agree with Azzikir, Liverpool are by no means a technically gifted team. They are similar to us in their style, and have been like that since way in the past with both teams playing very direct football!

I think this year we are concentrating a lot on our CL campaign, unlike last year which we wanted to win Seria A for the 1st time in 2 decades.

Liverpool draw is a 2 edged sword, it's a relatively difficult draw, there's a bigger chance of losing than with the other team, but if we win it'll be a huge boost and recognition... I think it's time Inter lived up to their potential and commanded respect in Europe! Forza Inter!

A real test of tactics this one...We have seen Liverpool outsmart a better Chelsea side...but also they were no match at all for a superior Milan side...even in the CL final 3 yrs ago, they were extremely extremely lucky to win. I remember their goals were pure luck and only destiny could stop Shevchenko from not scoring in extra time.
They are not as defensive as some make them out to be but they are really short of ideas going forward. Our defence should hold them well and if we can score in either leg, we will be through

This is a difficult draw for you. I'll give you the nod when it comes to talent...but Liverpool's experience in these type of matches vastly outweighs yours.
This is a team that knows how to win these CL games when it matters most. A fact that's clearly seen by the way they lost there first 3 and then batttled back by winning there next 3 to qualify. On the other hand INTER has a history of choking in these CL games. (What the heck happened last year)

Nevertheless, if you play up to your potential you should win.

See? There is our strength right there.

Inter had some major blows in midfield this year in likes of Vieira, Stankovic, Dacourt lately. Also Materazzi who was just irreplacable at some point. Add Jimenez, Adriano flying all over Brazil...

And we still managed to play good, and win. This shows the strength of Inter squad, and the conviction and winning mentality. Something we lacked in recent years.

Yes he was (cordoba), but at the start of the season, now he's doing great and theres no need to change Samuel-Cordoba partnership. But we will see how the things are in 2 months.

I think Liverpool is the best pick of the English teams anyway... Okey they have been in 2 finals last 3 years, but even as they won one of them, they wasn't the best team on the pitch in many of the games... We could have had a easier pick, but it could have been worse. We could have had a fast playing, technical team like Arsenal... I mean look at the game against Moscow until they realized "we are playing above our limits"...

I can't see Liverpool do anything against us in our current form, but last year I thought the same about Valencia..We are playing great, maybe not the most entertaining, with about every creative midfielder injured, and with those players fit again...

Anyway, nice way to end the bad luck in the CL, by sending an English team home...

My bro is a major Reds fan so we are going try everything to get tickets for both these matches.

Its going to be a classic - i think both teams are very evenly matched. Stevey G is just legendary, and so is my main man Crouchy. Never underestimate Liverpool. They have a lot of history in the CL and normally get a bit a luck becuase of it.
