So are we not one of those top 7-8 teams if Messi joins us?

Well, first, we'd need to at least *compete* for the CL.... We're a knock out team probably right now, on a good day. Maybe quarters. We dont hold a light to, say, Liverpool, City, PSG, Real. As much as it pains me to say, even Juve right now - though we'll see where it ends up with Pirlo + their summer window.

Unless you think Conte is actually really good and could easily win us the CL with this team? :D

I'm not saying you're wrong, per sé, but I'll also just add that Liverpool went from not being in the CL in '16-'17 to being a concussed goalkeeper and mangled Salah away from potentially winning it in 2018 (and then completed the job a year later). This kind of stuff happens in sports all the time where we talk about windows opening and closing and the timelines upon which they should happen, and then it turns out that, often times, a window opens up earlier than expected, and windows also often closer sooner than expected as well. With a strong transfer window, who might not suggest this team, with perhaps a stroke of luck or two along the way (as most finalists often get, mind you), couldn't make a real run at it next year if they had someone like Messi in tow?

Whether this team is built to compete for that without Messi isn't the point in this scenario, because, if you were to sign him, well, you wouldn't have to try to win it "without" him, would you?

Do his sponsors have any say? He's sponsored by Adidas, Qatar and Huawei. If dong can get Huawei involved Inter could have a shot.

Hmmm. I dont know.

We'd probably be ahead of Barca, just given what's LIKELY to happen to them this window, but I think we're still not strong enough as an overall team. As a team, I think we'd definitely be behind Liverpool, City, Real, Bayern... you'd argue about PSG and Juve...

Maybe the bottom side of those 8 teams.

I thtink the point I'm trying to make, though, is about us having a reasonable expectation to win the CL. There's always 'fluke' runs in the CL, but when I do my forecast for 20/21 and include Messi, I'm not *expecting* a great CL run just because we have Messi.

Also, given with Barella, Sensi, Tonali, Hakimi, Bastoni, Lautaro, I think that's a team that will need another year or two to keep growing to get closer to their top potential. Plus, Messi will take time to adapt to being a LWB.

To be fair, too, that Liverpool side was carefully crafted with a lot of Machine Learning and years of work. It's no fluke per se, and I dont think Inter are anywhere near that yet. We dont have the spending power. Thats why I'm keen to stress an actual plan to win the CL is like a 5 year plan if you're not in the CL. First you need to get into it, then you spend a couple of years in the group stages, a couple of years in the knock outs (quarters ideally), and you've got the recurring and guaranteed revenue that allows you to invest to go for the top spot.

Just by featuring int he CL Knock outs we made like 60m in prize moneyy, who knows what from sponsorship. Dont forget Pirelli will change at the end of next season too. The difference between our revenue and the top sides in the CL isnt like 20%, its like 200-300%. We're probably 150-200mil recurring revenue a year behind some of those guys, and that all directly translates into salaries and transfer fees.

Neymar and Messi are friends but I really don't see any sense for Messi to move for PSG. Play stupid Ligue 1 games and risk injury every weekend.

City and Inter are the only ones making sporting-wise sense and Inter has the advantage in environment aspect by a country mile. City has Guardiola then, but then the league doesn't fit to Messi that well as Serie A.

Neymar left because of messi

Pep has the upper hand. I don’t believe it for one second that he wouldn’t go there cuz the city/weather sucks.

The only reason I see that Messi would want to come here, would be because we have always been the team that always wanted him. He might appreciate that. Zanetti doesn’t have the pull that Pep has to convince him.
We are nowhere near offering the CL as a target for him.

Pep bailed on Messi. They didn't get along contrary to popular belief

So who's running around a block naked (with a mask*) if we do sign him? I'd volunteer but I'm a bit sensitive.

There’s a lot of shite that has been said in this thread.

1) Messi ain’t fit in Conte’s tactics: OK I get the jokes of Messi replacing Candreva as wing back bla bla but on a serious note Messi at this stage of his career would fit perfectly in a 352. Yes Conte would want more press from him but he’d be playing with less defensive responsibilities. A reason why Barca have crumbled as of late this season is because they insisted on playing the 433 which Messi isn’t suited to playing anymore as he becomes a defensive liability on the wing.

2) City are favorites for sure but Brehme is right for once. Manchester has been a nightmare historically for South Americans to live in. Also going to the prem at 33 years old...he’s still kill the league contrary to what people think but it would take a much crazier toll on his body. Those are our only 2 hopes

3) Wanting to leave for free could actually be a sign to choose us. City and PSG could easily pay a 100 million plus to get him right now if they wanted to

I’ve said it before, Messi would be stupid to go to Serie A.
He’ll spend more time picking himself up from the ground and at the doctors room then actually playing.
They gonna eat him alive in Italy with his weak physique and aging body.
Go to England or France. Retire healthy.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has been heavily linked with a potential move to Inter for several months now and Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Marchetti has revealed that whilst the Argentine may not be part of Inter’s business startegy, he could be part of their owners Suning’s business strategy.Speaking in the Sky Sport Italia studios a short while ago Marchetti explained: “The reference is probably to the Messi dream, something that does not concern Inter’s business strategies.“It’s something that could be in the strategies of the owners Suning but I don’t think they talked about the Argentine in today’s meeting.”

There is more to a signing like this than just football. Everyone needs to consider that.

Yes, but this is the exception not the rule, even if is not extremely selten. And you don't t put the exception before the rule. We could all assume, Messi want to go where he has the best chances to lift the CL again. And that is City! They check all the boxes. We don't.
And I don't buy it with Manchester is a shitty town compared with Barcelona and Milan. It is true, but I don't believe this is a criterium for Messi. Besides, he can play 3 or 4 year at high level and than he could go wherever he wants.

Dude, Manchester isn't worth it for 3-4 hours, let alone 3-4 years...

He still may go. He may buy into the bullshit. But he'll be miserable. Maybe he doesn't mind that. Aguero doesn't mind it for example, but his face screams it.

Manchester's not a great city, tbh, but where all the footballers live over in Cheshire can be really damn nice. It depends what Messi's buzz is tbh. I dont get the impression he's a wild parties until dawn kinda guy. You can get a fucking nice house with a lot of fellow footballer neighbours, etc, for the money he's on.

And, yeah, I get it, italy has lake como, but then you still have to live in Italy, a country with very little economic prospect for more than a decade now.

In my view, two things might swing it for us:

1 - Growth decree (parts 1 and 2, relating to overseas investments)
2 - Serie A will suit him better at his age and skill/pace/etc

Suning.com might be the first to sell Huawei’s smart TV

Suning and Huawei Reach a 3-Year Ecological Cooperation

On August 12, Huawei’s consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong led a team to visit Suning’s headquarters in Nanjing and visited Zhang Jindong, chairman of Suning Holding Group. The two parties signed a three-year full-scene ecological cooperation agreement.

The cooperation field would cover all scenarios, all categories and all ecology. This time, the two parties also finalized the cooperation: Huawei will name the Suning 30th Anniversary Super Show Gala jointly created by Suning and Dragon TV.

Imagine the breaking news will be like Messi goes to Inter Miami. Fucking Beckham.

Sign Kostic and we'll be good go with Messi in a 343

Barcelona are reportedly preparing a response to the message from Lionel Messi, as President Josep Maria Bartomeu is asked to resign.

Don't have one.
Barca fans are gathering near the stadium. Maybe that's what he wanted with this.
