I don't know why people think we should lose points to Atalanta. Like if you look at their schedule, and they are being rational (unless Gasperini just focus on us out of spite), and they are approaching this strategically for top 4, the game they play against us are the least worth to invest effort and resources.

We are in between Milan and Bologna, Milan is weaker and easier to steal points from, then you rest the key players against us, and you do a home game against your direct top 4 contender.

Plus this will be a home game for us.

I think we should get all the 3 points.

It's also a bonus game for them though so they could definitely see it as a chance to make up ground when nobody else can respond. If Atalanta wins against Milan, they're only -4 on Milan with a game in hand still (and better goal diff.). That means another win at the San Siro gets them to -1 and right on their tails, not to mention a minimum of a +3 margin on Bologna.

What might work to our benefit is that Atalanta has only found consistent form recently a) without European games midweek and b) against a much softer part of their schedule. Their record against the top-half isn't good this year at all, and they're about to face about as tough a stretch as you can face in any league; every other top-5 team + two EL games + Fiorentina and Napoli...they don't play the European games before they play us, but it's still a midweek after a Sunday game. We'll be on equal rest more-or-less.

G-d, the scenario of Milan losing on Sunday and then we beat Atalanta to potentially move +17 on Milan is delicious. I want that.

Kinda my point, I just assume everyone knows they will be on a tough schedule when I said look at their schedule which is heavily implied so I didn't lay it all out, hence you would have to select your battles as the Atalanta team, which the game against us is really the least worth to invest it.

Cause if it is a game a week, yea you play 100% every game regardless your opponent.

I’m not as worried about Atalanta as a lot of you guys are. As long as most of our key players are fresh and focused, I think we’ll batter them. Gasperini shows little to no willingness to compromise his tactics and I doubt they will be able to out play us.

Lecce is the real banana skin here. They will do everything to make it difficult for us.

Lecce is not entirely safe from the drop zone either with their recent struggles. They’re gonna make it tough on us. And Juve is almost guaranteed 3 points against lowly Frosinone before this one even starts. Too much rotation is risky.

We will end up running our players to ground if we overworry about every middle/lower table club. On paper, we could still beat Lecce even with Audero, Bisseck, and Asllani. With the current gap with rube and the Atleti fixture looms ahead, Lecce is a nice game to play our rotational players.
