Not sure where this narrative coming from. He was not first choice at Udinese either.
Its a very common practice to hyper promote a young fairly talented player like this. One of the steps is to link him with every major club you can think of starting at a young age. A big red flag is when he does not join any and just gets sold for peanuts. Lots of players from Serbia, Croatia and Romania show talent but never quite make it and end up in China, Turkey or mid table Serie A teams at best.
Might not be the case with Samardzic but the pattern is there.

What I have read that he did not get past the players that Red bull had and at that time he was still younger. But it's strange that Leipzig has not implemented a buyback clause in the deal
