I respectfully disagree. If he wants to rise to be a team leader, as he is a WC winner, he needs to own these small but defining moments. It's what separates the top players from the rest. For whatever reason (either his choice or him being told to) he was the 5th striker and we were down. That's his moment.

I still am a fan of the guy and this team, and sure, people do have poor games, he's still young, but if we are to rise to the next level he can't make these mistakes. we're pinning our hopes that he's our captain and more prolific than people like lukaku.

I will give him credit that his movement away from goal was great and he tried to make chances, but those opportunities he had the ball at his feet or head in front of goal...gotta make those

Again on those lukaku misses such chances are much more likely to come up during a game than a penalty....

My point is not that it would not be great if he was a better pk taker neither is my point that he should not work on it....

My point is that statistically speaking we need him to be good at it in 1 out of maybe 100 games and even then he only needs to be good if we dont have 5 good pk takers in the squad...

So should we really obsess over a skill that he/we baerly need in order to be successful?
Even in the atleti game we most likely still would be out even if he had converted that pk.....

Damn this is painful, I'm really sorry for Lautaro.

Huge respect for allowing sanchez to shoot a penalty. I don't know what's the hierarchy of penalty shooters when both him and sanchez are on the field, but I doubt sanchez is ahead of him in that regard by default. He probably realized penalties aren't currently his strong point and gave it to someone else. That's how a true captain operates.

Hopefully I don't eat shit with these props in near future, cos honestly in penalty hierarchy he should stay as low as possible.

No one's asking Toro to put in a 24 hour shift in a gulag. Just practice his penalties. For a striker, goals are the currency in which they base or measure their value/output. Toro should obsesses over this, not let Sanchez and Acerbi step up before him. Toro is one of the reasons we missed on 10M prize money (potentially 20M given the draw). That's nothing to scoff at.

Messi wasn't the best penalty taker (75% conversion rate), bet he worked on it, kept at it, and always took them on. WC 2022 he was the 1st Argentine player to step up, biggest pressure moment, perhaps of all time, but he stepped up. If we want Inter to go places, the players need to embrace these moments and be ready. Klaasen stepping up before Toro puzzled me at first, then infuriated me when I looked at his penalty record. Sanchez's is even worse

Really fuckin disappointing, and I was one of the first here to give him props on how he behaved so far as a captain. Still not the dealbreaker or captaincy stripping offense but a huge let-down nonetheless.

The worst part is we don't even know why the silence. It can be disappointment in himself, but the other day his agent spoke and said the team needs improvements, so now i m thinking maybe he thinks he did everything alright, and he is disappointed in the team.

That's the thing with silence, it leaves room for fucked up interpretations.
